Fully chromed? Brazed on bottle clips?
Dudley is a bit of a journey for me but if you decide to buy and it needs a quick collection , then let me know asap and I'll try my best.

Fully chromed? Brazed on bottle clips? Dudley is a bit of a journey for me but if you decide to buy and it needs a quick collection , then let me know asap and I'll try my best. The bottle cage is hose-clamped to the downtube; seems unlikely that it has braze-on cage mounts. To my eye, it doesn't look chromed at all; it looks like it's silver paint. The two posted photos are small and low-res; you don't really get any detail even enlarging them on a smartphone. But the color of the frame looks almost identical to that of the death fork: a matte medium grey. There's none of the characteristic shine you expect to see with a reflective metal surface. I'm not suggesting that the seller's trying to deceive anyone; I just don't think he knows what he's talking about. If I was buying a bike under the requirement that it be chrome, I'd want the seller to polish a section up a bit and take a close-up picture, just to be sure.

I was looking at this add about a month ago, but too tall for me. I thought it loooked like the brushed chrome of the so called Superbike. Not that it had those high standing bottle bosses or black DA gear... To me the well defined reflections especially around the headtube look like brushed metal and not silver paint. If anyone picks it up and is looking to pass on the forks, then I'd be interested

If anyone picks it up and is looking to pass on the forks, then I'd be interested What size steerer do you need? I might have a spare pair of Viscount forks in the shed - bought on eBay some time ago for a price too good to miss.

Hi, I have a 22.5 frame, 130mm head tube, the old forks have a 165mm steerer. A little longer would be ok.

RE: chrome
I enlarged the photo on my PhotoFiltre 7 software and the headtube and the top tube look like high shine you would see on chrome. Plus, the painted headtube scalloping is missing.

I don't know if the seller is playing hard to get or has just gone away. I have made two offers (£70 and £75) but both have just lapsed, with no response from the seller. The bike has re-listed, but that could have been automatic.

The seller has 3 purchases but no sales...so could just be unaware of the process and not getting emails, and isn't going into their area on eBay to find your offer?

John,
eBay advert advises: 'Please ring Alan with any questions. 07931721369'. Worth a try?
If you are successful, let me know if I can help with collection and delivery to London, as before. Dudley isn't far from me, so I could collect in person.
Rob.

At that price its got to be worth having............I have a 1962 Carlton Catalina in a full chrome finish that needs building up. Currently I am sourcing the components and will do it in a period correct spec and cannot wait. My thoughts on chrome swing in and pout though, one minute I think it looks classy, the next I'm just not sure and could even think it blingy but have to say even as a frameset it looks quite something in the sunlight.
