Did Lambert ever make a lugged frame? I recently found another Lambert and it's either a lugged Lambert frame or a hacked repair job.
I'll post pictures later tonight when I get home.

Lambert did indeed market a lugged frame - the early ones (1972) were like this. They have rather elegant semi-wrap-around seat stays. No-one seems to know who actually made the frames. Since the filet brazed Lambert and Viscount Aerospace frames were made for them by Trusty it is assumed that the early lugged frames were made by someone else. My gold Lambert has this sort of frame and there are also some nice pictures on the ClassicRendezvous Lambert page.

Others know more about this than I do, but Viscount certainly made a frame with lugs on the head tube but not elsewhere. I think this was generally called the 'International' model. Possibly Lambert also did this. Any sign of a model name on the bike? However, the lugs are not the most attractive I've seen and perhaps, as you suggest, this was a repair. This could explain the rather icky paint around the head tube and the replacement forks (perhaps the Death Forks failed??). Also a Tange headset, which wasn't original. However, the front wheel looks fine and original, whereas the rear is probably a replacement (Suzue) and is a bit wonky(?)

cusqueno, thanks for the quick response, here are more pictures of the bike. Yes the front wheel is original, the rear however is not. I will look closer for a model name or a number when I get home. flic.kr/s/aHsm6ZSsjY

For reference, a couple of pictures of the lugged head tube on my Viscount A/S Victor, which has a fillet-brazed rear triangle: (With apologies to Bendo for showing these!) Headset by RMT@261, on Flickr Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr There looks be a bit more scalloping on these than on the lugs on Vinniecircles' Lambert.

Yep, that is a repair job. Not standard head tube lugs. Viscount turned out a few Aerospace bikes with head tube lugs: a) Aerospace Victor. b) Aerospace SE (to use up old unfinished Lambert triangles). Cheers Steve
