We are talking the Viscount bikes on the car. Making a bit of a holiday of it , we have airbnb accommodation. Touring the Loire a bit. We have entered two rides Saturday and Sunday. It seems cheaper than eroica. We will see if its as good.

I was due to go but have had to spend 1000's on a new kitchen so will not make it. 8 other club members are going, one is riding the long route on the Saturday. So look out for Alan riding his Alan. Hope you 4 have a great time.

Hi all,
The Anjou vintage vello has finished. We did 60k Saturday, 40k Sunday. Well I am not going to say much but We were blown away with the event. The rides were chilled with lots of stops( if you wanted). The French really get into it and all dress preriod. The rides and views of the Loire region were second to none and very do-able. Its much less commercial than Eroica and much better value food and drink at every stop. Its based in the town of Saumur not a field. The Eroica people need to sharpen up. If you a balls out cyclist racing then this is not for you its a chilled retro vibe. A guy from the German equivelant left us a flier and this might be worth a look. Anjou vello 1 , Eroica 0. GO

Should we we book it for DFR6 before the Eroica people buy the franchise? YES YES YES I had to miss it this year but am determined to go back next year. I had booked a farm house that sleeps 12 also had its own swimming pool. Was thinking of booking it again next year but will wait for reports back from the 10 that did make it this year.

We did the Newhaven To Dieppe ferry crossing . Drive for 4 hours at 60-70 mph to 4 miles south of Saumur and lived in a cave. The fee on the motorway is a little steep now at 38 euros each way but you could avoid that on town roads but add another 2 hour drive each way. Plenty of camping at good rates in the area as well. Shared the cost of accomodation with freinds it sleeps 8 people we wer four. Just to do the event I would say 4 days but we have toured the area for another 4 days again great rides and lovely towns to visit. Did a spot of fishing and visited wine caves and other stuff as well.

I have to say that the prospect of "Au programme jazz, swing, produits du terroir et fines bulles !" is tempting.

This sounds like a good idea. What do people do for accommodation?

Will we need a visa ? I think we’ll be welcome if we arrive in any model of Citroen... Citroen Visa by RMT@261, on Flickr I can seat four people in and carry four bikes on my car.

You wont need a visa you will need a bicycle though. Last year the rides sold out in two days. We hesitated and failed. Our freinds got on the 40k on saturday. Just being around it is fun anyway, we went to the car classic on the same time in Chinon but they have different days in 2019.
