I bought these pedals at vast expense from zapvintage - the US vendor who has apparently got a lot of parts from the estate of John McLaren, whose father was Viscount agent for Yamaha. I thought they might be the black pedals as fitted to the Dura Ace equipped 'SupaBikes'. I would say that they look as though they were powder coated rather than anodized, but it's hard to be certain. The caps, which look like Viscount caps in this side on view from eBay, have a plain blue dished centre. Perhaps a Lambert centre put on reversed? Zapvintage is selling other pedals that clearly have Viscount caps in the photos. BLACK PEDALS by ShouldbeCusquenobutF**krwontletmeintomyproperaccou, on Flickr

I would think that if they were anodized, it would be a nice uniform look inside and out, and if it was powder coated, there would be thin spots somewhere in one of the nooks and crannies and especially in the cap holes or under the spindle screw and washer.

John, I still have some of Jim's (jdl51's) beautiful 'V' logo discs if you'd like to insert a pair into the end caps on your new pedals. I filed the MKS logos off the end caps of my Sylvan pedals and glued the logos in place with Araldite. The fixing isn't quite up to the craftsman standards of Jim's handiwork, but here are a few pics of the pedals on my work-in-progress AS Sport rebuild: IMG_5671 by RMT@261, on Flickr IMG_5670 by RMT@261, on Flickr IMG_5668 by RMT@261, on Flickr

The dust caps of Sylvan pedals, as used by Robert, also fit Viscount pedals, although they might need the threaded bit filed shorter to make them fit snugly. There's an eBay seller with a couple @ £1.99 - seems reasonable.

I wonder if our friend in LA has a bag full of spare caps in her collection. I talked to her yesterday and she said there are more Viscount parts yet to come. My mixte is on its way.

I've taken the caps off the black pedals and found that the blue inserts are just Lambert inserts reversed. Was this a stop-gap for Viscount before they had 'V' inserts made? Or was it done so that the pedals could be sold to non-Viscount/Lambert owners? Looks as though I could use a couple of those 'V' logo disks if they are still available Rob. If Rob doesn't have any more or doesn't want to part with the ones he has, I can post a couple over to you. They're flat, not the convex shape of the original pedal disks, but they'll look just fine.

John, I have at least one pair of each of the three sizes of 'V' logo inserts that Jim sent over.
PM me with the approximate diameter you need and your address, and I'll put a pair in the post to you.
