Someone hit the motherland at an estate sale of NOS Viscount leather saddles. Quantity available is "more than 10". It's a shame the price is just way too high to consider. I'm sure he'd laugh at a low "best offer" at this point that was affordable and in line with reality. I've found the used pre-broken in Middlemore/Viscount saddles work well for me but I've also heard that the new ones will kill you. It's a listing that is worth watching to see if the price comes down. www.ebay.com/itm/172398907221?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Maybe a campaign of ridiculously low offers might help reorientate the seller to the going market value? I can't see him selling a single one at that price ...
EDIT- if he's sitting on quite a lot of stuff and needs to turn it around quickly, then they will drop pretty quick - unless he has a huge storage space, and didn't pay much for them, he's going to soon enough want them sold?

I'd pay a $ to know where and how he came about them though ( an old bike shop?)

If I wanted a leather saddle... and had that kind of $ to spend, I'd get a Brooks. Way over-priced for a pretty unexceptional saddle.

I communicated with the seller. He's got over 20 of them. Don't see him moving them at this price. Agree with vtchuck, might as well go Brooks at that price.

Someone on the local Craig's list actually did more than reconditioned a Brooks, he put whole new leather into it. If I find it later, I will post it, if it has not been sold. I don't know if one can do that but he's got to get credit for trying.

NOS leather saddles sat for so long could have dried out and gone hard?

Someone who has done it once sent me some instructions on rejuvenating old saddles. Unfortunately, I can't find them at the moment. If I remember correctly, the beginning was (perhaps surprisingly) soaking in water to remove old dirt, followed by re-shaping and drying and then soaking in the leather food of your choice. How this would work with old NOS ones I couldn't say.
