I know these have been mentioned elsewhere but I can't find it. I just noticed last night that I have two slightly different versions of Viscount bar end plugs across my fleet - Attachments:

Plugs in the top picture are on my Team KP Crisps bike. The other is a NOS plug that matches the originals on my kids Sprint bike. I've got the same set again on my Sport though not original to the bike.

It would make a nice design for a bell as well though, those aren't really used that much by Roadies.

Someone had lots for sale on ebay 6 months or so ago. They were repro's but if I remember correctly were just a sticker placed on the end of a standard plug. In my humble opinion they weren't worth the money.

I've been looking for plain chromed versions of these plugs but there seem to be none about despite all of the repro/retro stickered versions available.

I've found that quite a lot of modern packs of bar tape come with chromed plastic plugs. However they tend to be domed rather than flat. I might have a few you could have if you want to experiment. It is the later (80's?) Viscounts that come with the Viscount plugs in my experience. Previously they used plain plastic (usually black) screw-ins.

It would make a nice design for a bell as well though, those aren't really used that much by Roadies. Bells used to be required equipment for racing bikes in the UK. Back in the day bike racing, even time trials, on public roads was very much frowned on. One of the things you could be 'done' for if pulled over by the police was not having a bell. So (the story goes) manufacturers produced very light 'ping' bells for time triallists to meet the legal requirement. These bells are still considered quite cool. (And bikes are still legally required to have an audible warning device. Or at least to be sold with one.)

Thanks for the offer John but I'm not keen on the domed ones. Prefer chrome to black and was looking for the flats to match the Viscount ones. Nothing actually required at the moment though.

They have those simple bells so one is not too distracted with a long ringing bell and one can just reach over real quick and "ping" the bell while riding. I never thought of that. Probably everyone else knew this though. These kinds: i1.adis.ws/i/washford/163208?$pd_main_v2$where one just literally "pings" it, that's what they are called.

This is one of the vintage kind. The bell part is alloy and can come in various anodised colours as well as plain (I have a gold one on my gold Lambert). There was one branded with an M for Moulton small wheel bikes.

Those Adie bells have a great sound. Sadly mine's gone a bit wobbly.

Arundel have some good looking new ping bells too. Planning on trying one out soon.
