Loctite on the left; non-drive side crank arm. I know loctite comes in red and blue; I opted for the more permanent one. Not sure if loctite is in the UK, it's a real strong adhesive, glue, I suppose would be the word. It's actually working, my left side crank arm came loose at the bottom bracket spindle. I gave it actually about a month's period for the loctite to tighten, I did not use that bicycle. I heard it's pretty easy for a crank arm on the left to be ruined. Sheldon Brown says though that the left crank arms are pretty generic, should you need to replace it. One article from that website on Cranks: www.sheldonbrown.com/brandt/installing-cranks.htmlIt seems the other webpage on Cranks written by Sheldon (the above is not) gave me a "improperly configured" message for the website. And now, it will be touch and go until I can see whether this crank arm is going to stay solid, did okay today.

Did you use it on the threads, or the taper surfaces, or both? If you used the red, high strength Loctite, and mounted the arm correctly, my experience tells me it's not coming off. It might actually take sufficient force, or sufficient heat, to ruin the arm before it will come off. Will you be able to keep the bearings clean and lubed?

Thank you for your response.
For now, it is working all right. We will see how long it will last.
I overhauled the bottom bracket last year, it was doing fine as far as that goes.

The left crank arm readily came off, the same crank arm I put "blue loctite" on in the spring.
So, maybe I opted for the less permanent one, loctite.
