Would anybody have, or be able to point me in the direction of a few bits? Crane RD -with black finish around the recess of the name, (there's one on eBay at the moment but he wants too much ) HF hubs in satin black Dura-Ace inner chainring 42t (in satin black) I know it's a bit of a long shot... EDIT- wow, I wish I'd had the foresight to buy some of these up back in 2010!!! www.lfgss.com/conversations/176324/

Those days are long gone! If you find a plain one, it is easy to paint the black on the Crane RD.
Cheers Jim

I painted mine, and I like the look better than an actual black edition. In the picture below, my derailleur is on the right, a black edition is on the left. Cheers Jim

Between us we have a SupaBike!
Were those parts on that bike when you bought it?

Between us we have a SupaBike! Were those parts on that bike when you bought it? Nope, I bought them over time as I found them at reasonable prices. Currently they sit on a 1981 Aerospace 400 frame, which is of course wrong for period as the Gen 1 Dura Ace components date back to the early 1970s - Disraeli Gear's first black Crane RD dates from 1973. I have a black DA FD, brakes and shifters as well. Brake levers are silver. Although there are rumours of a black version of the levers, I haven't seen them for sale and I suspect the price would be through the roof if they exist.

I have to admit to not being a fan of black bits on bikes. Nicely polished alloy, yummy! Not that most of my bikes are nicely polished though, if they were too nice I wouldn't ride them. Good look with your search Jem. Cheers, Pete.

I think this might be like a search for a smaller broken section of the Holy Grail (the handle maybe?) , rather than the Grail itself (and hence, even harder and more time consuming). Hence, it might be easier and more productive to let Cusqueno have the bike and make something of it without too much stress. Anyway, I am going up tomorrow to bring the bike home. I bet you'll fall in love with it when you see it and will want to polish it and buy it lots of NOS Dura Ace parts. Frame looks good but no decals transfers or stickers? Owner went for a clean look?

Jem I have everything you need. whether I can bring myself to sell them to you is another matter. I do have a pair of low flange hubs which is what you really need not the high flange ones. Do you still have my mobile number? if so give me a bell later tonight before the football and I will go and have a look at my stash of all things Dura-Ace to see what I can do. Is Ray going to DFR if so, and I can help he could bring up with him?
I need a set of wheels for my Viscount Pro

I left an answerphone message on someones phone...It might be you Steve, or someone else called Steve.
If you can bring yourself to part with any bits then obviously I would be keen to finish off the SuperBike.
I will have a look in shed(s) for a pair of alloy wheels , befitting of a 'Pro.

Jem I can not really help after all. I have one Crane Black and one Crane GS Black rear mech's. So want to keep both. I do have a first gen Dura-Ace Pre EX .
Hubs I have a A pair of L/F on the Aerospace and another pair on tubular rims for my Raleigh. So want to keep both. I have one odd front wheel with a L/F hub and a pair of S/F hubs not built up, roll nice but black anodizing needs touching up. (Halfords Satin Black is close)
I have two chainsets complete, one is spoken for the other is available but I do not want to split. So probably would want too much for it.
Loads of brake calipers and at least on set of down tube shifters.

Thanks - a bit on the high side for me. Also, I have half the parts. I think it will be a long term project looking for the bits

Thanks - a bit on the high side for me. Also, I have half the parts. I think it will be a long term project looking for the bits i thought you might like to look at it. A sort of aspirational thing. Although I'm not a great fan of drillium and that has probably added to the price. You could sell off the duplicates and bits, like the It bb, that you don't need, but I agree - you can pick up bargains if you have the patience to wait a bit.
