First off; there seem to be some methods of electro-plating that are hazardous mainly from the chemicals involved but I saw this thread and it sounds like there have been some "home electro-plating" kits sold as well. www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1057614-electroplating-bike-parts-home.htmlThought this might be helpful to some. I lost the website but I think there was some place in the UK that just specialized in re-chroming a fork. Also, discuss any other methods of chroming or other methods to handle chrome if one cares to. It does not seem very practical to try to match chrome with paint; it just doesn't seem to work. The link was tested and seems to be working. Should the link stop functioning, it is in the Classic and Vintage discussion area.

I have a plater in my area that is fairly reasonable. It's about $5 each for small parts, bolts, QR pieces. I had my Titlest FD chromed, which was a bit more in price. Looks real nice. You can't beat the way it comes out when it's done professionally, and the cost isn't all that much.
