Picked up another Gran Touring in blue last week in my size this time. Very original from Craig's list, Maryland. Inexpensive and almost all original, so I couldn't pass it up and was able to turn it into a nice weekend in the Washington, DC area. Very robust old bicycle presence there with lots of bike routes and dedicated trails. Now for the interesting serial#: 591464 My yellow Gran Touring serial# is 591520 so these two frames were probably fabricated within days of each other differing by only 56. Very nerdy but cool nonetheless! I admit that would appeal to me too!

Not sure if this is now the right thread to use - I just searched on 'number' and this one came up. I expect most people watch the most recent posts anyway. Just wanted to post the frame number of the light blue fillet brazed Viscount that I had at DFR4. It's 11794J. Below that it has WPJR. There's a big gap between the J and the R. Perhaps someone can work out what model it should be and approximate year? A tall order I know.

Viscount76's red and white GP is a close serial# match to my red and white GP which is 2549EA Only separated by 121 frames so they were probably made about the same time! Cousins!

I've been doing some work on the Aerospace Victor I bought over the weekend (see thread a few down for pics) but I cannot find a serial no. Definitely not under BB and I can't see one anywhere else on the frame.
Any ideas?

Any ideas? My Victor is the same. I have checked the bottom bracket, seat tube, downtube, chainstays and seatstays again this evening, but still can't find a frame number anywhere. Possibly something to do with them being produced during the Lambert to Viscount transition, as suggested elsewhere. There appears to be very little logic in the Lambert/Viscount frame numbering system anyway - I recall that John was looking for an Enigma machine to try to work it out.

Hi, welcome to the forum! That is very funny that you should mention the toe overlap with front mudguard and wheel. I had a friend who had the same bike and he had an accident one day due to that. In terms of pictures, I can message you and you could mail me the pics if you want and I will attach to the post? The forum has reached it's limit of photos on the forum but you can host them elsewhere and then include a link. But if that all sounds too much pull-aver then no worries ...just enjoy the forum and keep us updated

I'm feeling guilty about posting pictures to the forum. Is it time to go to crowd funding to pay for the forum and get the upload limit lifted?

Only the pics that are actually embedded within the forum go towards the limited space we have. So Flickr, Photobucket pics add zero to that. If you have embedded , you could always go back remove it and link to a host site? But to be honest that would just delay the next size limit being reached and it would eventually happen. I had intended to use the advert revenue for such things but Google kicked me off that once I'd almost reached the payment threshold of £50 or so. I either clicked my own ads or promoted the ads by mentioning it would be nice if people clicked on them. On the day i mentioned it we made £10 or so and raised their suspicions ( or their spy bot algorithms suspicion )

I don't know if this thread has been superceded by the database, but I thought I'd add the details of my wife's mixte frame Deore 18AX. The frame number is 333248, which seems to match the Corsair Wayfarer numbers. Interestingly, like sooper8's Corsair, the leading '3' is slightly higher and separate from the remaining five digits. Could it be that the mixte frames were made in one run and then model was decided by the spec of the components?

It looks like 54473, and for purposes of registering a lock you could just call it that.

Hi Brian, I wasn’t sure if the “7” was a “2”. I’ve never had a registered bike stolen so not familiar with how any of this works if there was a challenge by the lock/insurance company. It’s also a bit academic since I don’t think the bike will be left any length of time in an unsafe location. Anyway, thanks for helping out. I’m still super pleased to have the bike and now that the weather has improved, I’m looking forward to riding it more. Cheers Chris
