Five speed Sprint, 1981/82. Looks to me that it has had a front shunt that has buckled the top and down tubes. Or is it just rust? Seller admits that the bike 'has issues'. Might be worth £15 to someone local for Raleigh-badged SunTour rear derailleur (not original, I think), wheel wing nuts & stem (not sure what that is but it looks nice - probably not original).

Does it appear to be the same kind of model as one we looked at previously?: www.pedalroom.com/bike/viscount-2467 I think so. I once had a nice bike I got used early in my cycling days, a mechanic found a bulge on the downtube right before the fork and told me he wouldn't ride it, being naive and the bulge was sizable, I did salvage that bike. At times now, I kind of wish I didn't, actually it rode okay but perhaps it would not have been reliable.

Only 9 miles from me!
Bike needs re-framing or the frame needs re-tubing - and should we trust the forks after a major crunch like that?
In fact, I have an idea . . . !

That Cusqueno, is a Thing of Purpose.
Exactly what purpose, I know not - but it's not what I have in mind!

I could see a person in a specific trade that needs to dolly back and forth between work benches might use such a thing ( I don't know what trade that would be exactly though) The flaw in that idea would be apparent once you started applying any force using tools on the work bench though and then you'd need all your leg muscles to prevent the thing moving.

Perhaps it's for use with a mini exercise bike, you know the sort that are just a unit with pedals and no seat, and used for breaking in saddles such as the B17?

I like it! It looks like something your big brother would "con" you into riding down a steep hill.

It reminds me of the chairs the crews of Minute man missile silos used. Cheers, Pete.

Similar John. I believe that the set up was so one of the crew could not operate the system on his own, and their chairs needed to be rapidly moveable. I remember seeing it in a film about the Cold War. Can't remember what it was called though. Cheers, Pete.
