NYD cycle with my daughter from home, round Richmond Park and back - 21km all together - 11.25km (7 miles) around the park. Some impressive 'inclines' but we cheated slightly by going round so that we rode down the longest, steepest bit. We saw quite a few deer, both Reds and Fallow. Pictures are of a group of Fallow bucks. Bikes are a Lambert with DF and my 1981 Aerospace 400 frame with black Dura Ace components. The 'bert is my only bike small enough for my daughter.

Nice way to start the New Year John! I wish I could get my daughter out for a ride too, but that ship has sailed. Maybe one day..... Even though it's quite chilly and out of my comfort zone, your photos motivated me to get out the door and off too my local park. The power of the board! A little local history sign for the photo. Took out "old reliable" for a sweet 16 miler to start 2016. Cheers, Michael DSCN1011

I had a play about with Strava a year or more back but it just wasn't for me. It seemed a bit complex for my needs and more geared toward 'challenges' and 'times'. It's still on my phone but never gets used.
Other ones I have on my phone are 'CycleStreets', which is user friendly , and I have used for planning journeys. The thing I like about this is that it finds 'cut throughs' and navigable paths that aren't roads. Very handy in unchartered territory.
The one I use most is Cyclemeter, when I know where I am going in advance , or one of my a regular cycle routes. The info it gives you when you finish is in a nice graphic form. And it will automatically email the results if you want them.

John, I've had my Map my Ride account account for couple of years now. It works well for me as a record of my mileage (or not) & routes taken. I also use the route mapping facility in advance if I'm planning a big day out, such as DFR3. I'm lucky to get more than an hour of continuous operation out of my iPhone 4S battery if I use it as a 'satnav' on my handlebars, so a backup battery can be useful if you want to use it to give turn-by-turn directions. I get the feeling that it's a bit less 'testosterone fuelled' than Strava, which suits me. I'm also looking at the new Garmin 25 GPS unit, which can interface with Map my Ride routes, giving 'arrow' turn directions while your phone is in your pocket.
