If anyone is looking for a nice project, but might like the 'complicated' stuff doing for them, my friends at the Birmingham Bike Foundry have received this Viking into their stock: Untitled by RMT@261, on Flickr It appears to be a complete, original town (aka pub) bike of some sort. Single chainring, 5-speed rear with down tube shifter, CB (Claud Butler?) badged "Coureur 66" centre pulls, front brake cable through an opening in the stem, high-flange hubs and many other interesting bits. The steel wheel rims are well rusted, so they may rebuild the wheels around the existing hubs. It's not really on my shopping list, as I already have the Victor and I am picking up another eBay-bought Grand Sport this weekend. (Please note: Despite all that, I'm going to make them an offer for the 'V' branded seatpost and front lamp bracket bolts, so hands off!) The guys plan to tidy it up and sell it from the shop for about £150 when finished, but they're not yet sure about the level of restoration that they are planning. So, if anyone would like to ring either Chris or Fin on 0121 459 7276 to get first dibs on it, I'm sure they would do any work you want to your spec/budget. They can also fit braze-ons for bottle cages, brake cables, gear levers etc., and have links with a good frame painter, so they sky is the limit to your plans. If anyone wants any more pictures, measurements etc, just let me know. If you go ahead, I'm sure I could also help with transport. Best wishes, Rob.

Those Vikings are impressive, www.classiclightweights.co.uk/avtviking.htmlNow here is a real track bike: www.classiclightweights.co.uk/bikes/viking-sbu-rb.htmlUnrelated but I did read, before World War II, cycling was a real community sport, this is in the Claude Butler area over there, it was a real club sport hence, why the Clubman cycle came about I gather, for camping, weekend trips and the like. It sounds like it was a fun time and then the war and then the age of TV and it seemed to change things per what people did in their leisure time.

I was reading another forum and there was an image of a Norse looking Viking warrior on the seat tube, blondish hair and so on, it wasn't a Viking and no one could figure out what kind of bicycle it was.
