Thanks Pete. I wish I could bring her to DFR3.
It was interesting to unwrap the Pro's handlebars and get a little course in bartape wrapping, 70s style. They were wrapped like I have done here above, except there were Lambert half hoods on top. I didn't have any hoods handy and couldn't get to the lbs, so I've got 100% tape hoods for now.

Do you know what red the frame is?? This is a good question and I think the answer is out there somewhere. Busaste may have the data and it may be on either this forum or the CTC forum Viscount thread. Steve believes that Viscount used standard colours (colors) available at the time - probably RAL colours. However the names of colours appear to come and go or even change over time. For instance, my Aerospace 600ex is described as Linden Green in the publicity leaflet. This is a colour still available (apparently) and used on some cars. However, the pot of Linden Green touch-up paint I bought is different to that on the bike, even allowing for possible fading over time. Foss re-painted hs 600ex in Linden Green, but again the colour is not quite the same as on mine. We need a list of colours used on Lamberts and Viscounts, with modern equivalents.

If we could just get the paint codes, any paint shop should be able to mix it up. Cheers, Pete.

Nicely done, bendo. I trust everything is in good order and it rides, shift and brakes as nicely a it looks.

Flame red? Some obvious-sounding name like that. I specified the name because it was the one Busaste mentioned in the original CTC thread. When I was getting it finished, the swatch in the powder-coating brochure matched the red of the original frame. But when it came back it was the bright red you see above, not the darker red of the original frames. So similar to John's experience with his Linden green. Perhaps this is what the colour was 40 years ago and it has darkened over time? Actually I'd be surprised if it would shift that much.
Yes Pete, I wish we had the codes and not just vague names and old colour swatches..

PS thanks roadie, and yes. Yes it does.

I love your Viscount! I remember the build and followed it on your website. It's great to see it up and running and looking as good as ever. All that Shimano DA stuff looks impossibly cool! The spec of your bike is very close to Viscount's original race team bikes. For me, yours is the ultimate Viscount. The only colours I know for certain that Viscount used were Ruby Red, Flam Red and Cobalt Blue. These are quite flat in powder coated form but look great clear coated as per Lambert and Viscount. This is a useful website for paint colours: colors.findthedata.com/l/743/Ruby-RedI seem to recall with your paint job you wanted Flam Red. It looks beautiful whatever your painter actually applied. Cheers Steve

Ben, I never tire of looking at your bike. In fact I've just had another look over! For me, it's the ultimate Viscount.
Great work.
