I have two nice wheels that take tubulars. I have no tyres . If they are 27 inch can a 700 tubular tyre fit? How would you measure the rim size. Or are they a junk and start again?
Thanks
Ray

Ray,from what I recall, tubs tend to be one size(except for 650 and other odd balls). Halfords had some on their website quite cheap,Vittorias.I've used them and they're ok to see if you like riding tubs.Don't forget the rim cement. You'll have fun fitting them.Hide the swear box! Cheers, Pete.

Ray, After dipping my toe in the tubular waters with the gold Lambert I now have tubs on three of my bikes. I have only used double sided tape for sticking them on and not yet had any problems. From what I've read tape is easier to use than glue. Of course, with tubs there is no chance of a roadside repair although I have had some success with squirt-in gunk for small holes. And to repair permanently you need to be handy with a needle and thread ... As Pete says, most tubs come in one size, sometimes called 700c and sometimes 27". Both names are wrong but I don't know what the official designation is. If you shop around entry level tubs should be obtainable for GBP15. Vitoria Rally's or Conti Giros are usually the cheapest and both are good tyres in my experience; although they would no doubt be sneered at by road racers who demand silk tubs hand made by nuns in an enclosed order.

And a very large cheque enclosed with the order! Cheers, Pete.
