I see a race # on the white one. Have you used it in competition? If so, how was it going Viscount retro?

Raymondo - very interesting pair of Viscount! I occasionally see that Tony Doyle for sale and often wonder how they ride... I've never ridden a Sprint either - how is that and how do they compare to each other?

Hi,
I used the Tony Doyle on the London to Cambridge this year. It was fine, as I think its hardly been ridden since it was made, but its not been looked after. It had the original bar tape and Michelin 1 1/8 race tyres on it , which i have changed for 1-1/4 amberwalls. Still got the tyres but you cant get them now, 1 -1/8 are hard to get. The gearing is for flat and its very fast. The gears change great , like a bolt action rifle. The diffrence between the bikes is the sprint has a steel rear and alloy front. The seat post is aluminium where the Doyle is steel chrome. The gearing on the sprint has a taller first so it feels faster, yes it feels faster. Its probably because its the right frame size for me, being 5' 8 . I have the seatpost high in the Doyle with the seat back, but its OK. Let my mate have ago on the Doyle and he was amazed how light and fast a bike could be being over thirty years old. I wonder how other people think of Viscount bikes compared to others of that era, have they compared them?

Hey Raymondo Panaracer makes some great gumwall tyres in 27". Check out these folding 27 x 1! A bit pricier than your average Thai-made 27 x 1 1/4 tyres, but then they're a bit better too. b
