Hi All,
I didn't get any replies about venue etc on CTC, the only replies I got were on this thread- so I think I will contact the Rolleston Scout camp site today and ask about bookings and prices. I will also ask them about additional parking for those just turning up for the day.
If the response is fair from them, I will announce the venue here and CTC - all ok with that?
The price was £11 per person camping or in vans, and I think that included electric hook up and use of the showers.
So, potentially we have staying over Fri and Sat nights Lewisg Myself Whippet Velocopete Stella (maybe) Stoatie Goldie (maybe)
Any others who might want one or both nights, please let me know asap- it isn't a huge site and you might struggle if you leave it to the day, and it might help with the price if we block book it out.

All fine, thanks for sorting Jem. Do you fancy emailing Busaste with the details just to be sure he knows what's happening.

I just want to make contact with the person I have been communicating with at Rolleston and be sure they are ok for us all; in particular the parking for the people who are just coming for the day.

Hi all,
In Wales at moment , so signal isn't good. Hence I might not reply or get back to mails.
Rolleston Scout group have agreed to give us the site just for ourselves on those 2 nights if we have at least 5 people (tents or vans). £11 per night and with the added bonus of parking cars there on site while on the ride. Free showers and 5 electric hook up points. And we can have a camp fire. So, it's all set! Vive le Viscount!

That's so awesome, getting all giddy again.

Here is the exact location of the camping site, and start of the ride. I will post up a thread giving full details of the date/venue/times/details etc later this weekend (here and CTC) When I say 'exact' , I mean of course 'very close'...the pin I dropped is on the road in front of the Scout Hut, which in turn is in front of the camp site. (hope that makes sense?- I just didn't want someone asking of we were camping on a road side verge

I think it looks lovely! And we're going to have the whole campsite to us? There's ample space.

Hey, guys. Just wanted to know:
Is it correct that the closest station (from the south) is Burton-On-Trent? I'm trying to organise my train tickets, coming in Saturday morning, and leaving on Sunday midday, so I'll be staying one night. It'll be a short ride from the station to the site, so it'll be perfect.

That or Willington both seem similar distances, I debated whether to get a train up but I think it'll work out cheaper and easier to drive.

Saying that, Burton-on-Trent looks easier to cycle too/from.

My real worry is if I can book a bike on that train. I'll have to cycle to Euston St. and ask directly if it's possible. Have heard horror stories and I don't find The Trainline very helpful. They're great for advance booking, but don't ever change anything. Ah well.

Red spotted hanky has got an option for booking bikes, haven't used them myself but I have seen it recommended .

Looks brill,is there a chippy or other take-away near by?After all the efforts of the day I don't think I'll fancy cooking, or a "cold collation". Cheers, Pete.

Er,that's ok then. Does it do breakfasts? Then I wouldn't need to bother with cooking gear etc! Cheers, Pete.

There's 2 pubs within 3 mins walk of the site. This one, and this one. Both do bar snacks and meals. (I will check if they do breakfasts) There is also a decent convenience store, and a butchers within 3 mins walk. I can't recall a chip shop but again, will check. Burton is the nearest main train station (connection via Derby, Birmingham New Street or Stoke), 20 min bike ride- but you can get a connecting train from Derby to Tutbury & Hatton which is very close too , about 2 miles from site... (connection to this one via Derby/Stoke line) I am taking my camper van and can cook up food. We'll be ok! Any questions just post them up and I will do my best to answer

Death Fork Rally 2Saturday 28th June, 2014 - 11am meet up for 11.15am circular ride of 18 miles.(with pub at 9 miles ) Venue- Rolleston on Dove , near Burton on Trent, Staffordshire. This event last year was very successful and well attended. See hereNote from Bustaste - He has a limited number of Viscount iron on T-shirt transfers from Bendo that he forgot to bring last year. He says that if you want to send him plain t-shirt, then he will iron one on and bring it with him. Alternatively , we also have electric hook up and I am in my campervan, so could in theory iron them on during event. I think he has 10 of them? He has also mentioned that he's asking former Viscount employees to attend. And finally- for those of you who have heard of the of the Holy Grail of Viscount tools, and maybe even seen pictures; you will have the chance to see Bustaste's BB puller/inserter tool, and even watch it in action. Yes folks, Bustaste has said he can do a BB or two if required! This years event will incorporate a swapping bring and barter. I plan to bring my Viscount Grand Prix to sell. The proceeds of which will be the kitty for drinks for the Viscount ex-employees should any attend. I don't think it proper that they buy their own drinks. Those wishing to stay over have options- We have a scout camp site booked for us in Rolleston on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June. It is £11 per night and there are 5 electric hook up points. Some hard standing and plenty of room for tents. We have exclusive use of the site for the weekend and can park together and meet up back on the site etc Free showers and indoor toilets. If you wish to use this facility then you must let me know, as it can only be booked through myself. I don't need money , or even a definite 'yes' ; just a provisional 'yes' , so that I can roughly get numbers. I will do the rest, and you pay on the day. If anyone is looking for B&B, feel free to contact me for help. Also, I have spare tents/sleep mats etc if anyone is tempted to stay but doesn't have the kit. There's 2 decent pubs within 3 mins walk of the site. Both do bar snacks and meals. (I will check if they do breakfasts) Note-Burton was pretty much the brewing capital of the world and there are loads of pubs and some great micro breweries. There is also a good convenience store, and an excellent butchers within 3 mins walk. I can't recall a chip shop but, will check. Burton on Trent is the nearest main railway station (connection via Derby, Birmingham New Street or Stoke), 20 min bike ride- but you can get a connecting train from Derby to Tutbury & Hatton which is very close too , about 2 miles from site... (connection to this one via Derby/Stoke line) Any questions,or anything I have forgotten and/or missed off here, just ask me. EDIT- the roads are very quiet with little traffic.

It's done, it's done! Now I'm almost wetting myself with excitement. Booked the train tickets today, and reserved the bike spaces. London to Stoke-On-Trent directly. Going by the map in the link you've posted, it's the closest station, and a 9-min ride to the camp site. Please don't tell me if got it all wrong. :-(
Yes! I got it all wrong! I need Burton and not Stoke. Oh, so typical! Need to change it all again next week!
I really could kick myself now! How stupid can one person be?

So, have now booked the right tickets to Burton-On-Trent. Still fuming about my silly mistake. 24 pounds could have been the new handlebar or the SR stem I need! Ah well, I'll see if I can get it refunded.
And the good news is that I'll be coming in on Saturday morning, and leaving on Sunday around 11am.

Well, thanks for the comments, but honestly it isn't much effort at all. I'm often messing about on the internet and researching things, and planning bits and pieces, so this was no more or less than that. It's been a pleasure putting something together where everyone is positive, enthusiastic and clear about what we are doing. I've had harder tasks...(I've done other 'organising jobs' that have been akin to herding a group of cats across miles of wilderness with just a stub end of a pencil as a guiding stick)
Also, the venue is just a few miles travel for me so I know the area.
Stella, your tent will be up and waiting by the time you arrive on Saturday, no problem. You still want me to bring that smaller 'Pro frame I sent pics of? You can make your mind up on the day if you want?

Jem, I'll be arriving on Saturday around 9am. :-)
I totally forgot about the frame, so yes, bring it and if someone else wants it, then they can have it, if not, I'll take it. I just want it to go to someone who appreciates Viscounts.
