. . . occasionally, I'm strangely drawn to this site (especially some of photos in the older posts): www.copenhagencyclechic.com/It's not everybody's cup ot tea, but: has some great cycling pictures; shows how cycling can be for everyone; shows how useful and versatile cycle transport can be; can live up to it's catch-line 'Sartorial Elegance on Two Wheels'; and don't these Scandinavians put many of us Brits to shame with their command of English as a second language? (and I include Stella in with them!) Also, Google both 'Winter Cycling in Copenhagen', and 'Cycle Rush Hour in Copenhagen' - you'll be amazed! The cycle-oriented culture also puts us to shame! Some great photos, and I like the humour in some of their product slogans too. I agree about their culture etc. One only needs to look at how their close neighbour Norway made a conscious effort to use the tax and revenue from sale of their oil resources to fund research into alternative/sustainable new energy sources. I think they are now almost self sufficient for energy needs, and can gain income from selling energy to other countries. In contrast, some countries that had a windfall of revenue from oil in 60's and 70's used it to fund tax cuts and generally thought it would last forever. Fast forward to 2014 and we are reliant on so many other countries for our energy needs and we are are going to frack our own land to bits in search of some fuel. No wonder they have a great cycle network and the sense to look beyond tomorrow- they are well versed in looking ahead, planning and being downright sensible. Apologies to all if my posts contain a little too much that might be described as 'politics'. I do realise that it's not too everyones cup of tea. I also realise that politics and religion should be kept from the forums...I will log off and then log back in as Admin and give myself a good ticking off No more politics, I give you my solemn vow.

I'm in for a scan at hospital on Monday. At least it's not really hurting any more. But I can only walk sideways like a crab, very slowly at that. Housebound for a few days but as I mention in another post, I'm reading a lot and just trying to keep my mind occupied. I reckon due to the fact it's my calf, if I lower my saddle a bit then I could be out on bike pretty soon. It's when I straighten it that it hurts. Cycling might be best rehab possible.
