As the ctc site still wont let me log in,I thought I'd answer his quiz here. If you haven't seen it look now.
It's either a Renault Carevelle or Floride. Most UK examples rusted away in the last century. It would be great to see more photos of it. Cheers, Pete.

Hey Pete, you're right of course! I was going to be strict and say you had to nominate which on specifically, but for a bonus 50 points, perhaps you could tell me which distinguishing feature is not in the photo, thereby making it impossible to tell a Caravelle from a Flouride! b

Hi bendo,an international quiz! From memory, the Floride was based on the Dauphine, radiator at the front of the engine. This required side vents to aid cooling. The Caravelle was based on the 8,radiator at the rear of the engine. No side vents required. That's why I was not specific in my identification.Would love to see more photos and hear the cars history. I'm rather fond of old cars, see my flickr account, petethebike for my latest toy. Cheers,P. PS. Just checked Gw...dor,needless to say I know nowt about Harry Potter, but my grandson used to call me Grandolf! Coincidentally,I used to see Richard Harris in my local pub.

Ah Richard Harris, he was the better of the two Dumbledores. And you're spot on about the differences between the two Renaults. The one in the picture is a Caravelle, based on the Renault 8/10 chassis. It's my brother-in-law's pride and joy. I'll definitely check out your new toy! b

The Aeroplane?? Isn't that taking the "Aerospace" thing a little too far?
And your Aerospace Pro has those 5 pin Maxy cranks! At least I think it was yours. I was searching via Flickr Hivemind, which might have given me anyone's results... b

I wish it was the plane! My other half won the flight in a raffle at ou local Soap Box Derby. You're right, they are Maxy cranks with the 42 inner used as the outer, and I think a 36 inner. Could be a 38 though, can't check as the bike's in England and I'm in France. My latest toy is the primrose yellow Berkeley SE328.This dates from 1958 and is powered by a 328cc 2 stroke engine.Fast it aint!!!

I once saw Richard Harris, striding like a majestic rebel in cowboy boots, with a ciggie in mouth, down a side street in London in the mid-80's. Quite a striking figure...

Bendo, there's a very enthusiastic owners club and there is a reasonable amount of info on the net. I must admit to just pootling about the Wawickshire lanes on fine days,no hood o side screens. My second car in the '60s was the three wheeler version, many happy memories, hence the current version. There are a surprising number of survivors,in various states, and hardly a week goes by without at least one on ebay UK.A bit like Viscounts really. More on my Viscount activities,or not, when I'm back in jolly old England. Cheers,P.
