Hey guys, I just bought this Viscount that has been sitting in a storage for nearly 30 years. I think it was repainted and need help to identify what model and year if possible. Thanks. Marshall

Hi Marshall and welcome to our little community.
My guess is it's a Pro, with a few non-original parts. Reason I think it's a Pro is mainly because of the crankset. RD looks like an early Deore/Deershead. FD looks like it might be a match. Also brakes and brake levers look non-original.
Otherwise looks like a good buy. Lots to like there! b

OK, so not Deore then! Perhaps the steel cousin of Deore on the back and obviously SunTour on the front. The interesting thing is that the freewheel looks like it wouldn't be any bigger than about 21t, so why the long cage derailleur? Another Viscount factory ad-hoc spec? Or previous owner? b

Hi, Marshall. Also a big welcome to our little family.
My guess is a GP. Reason being is the stem, which looks very much like the stem my GP came with, with the L- or V-branded bolt. The Pro came, if I'm not mistaken, with an SR stem. Might be wrong here, though. It's a case for those how have a catalogue. Some Pros came with TA/SR Apex crank sets, some with porthole chain ring. The GPs all came with the porthole. Odd combination of mechs. *scratches head*
