This is my 2nd GT which I picked up on Craig's list all the way from Colorado in 2011. This time I got the frame size right (23") and went for the yellow. My first was blue and 24" back in 1976. I actually chased this guy when he relisted for a 2nd time when it didn't sell local. Other than the stem and frame, I had nothing of the blue Viscount that was original. This one was complete as the day it was bought and for a very reasonable price with shipping to NY. After I cleaned it up, it showed very minimal wear on the components and the steel wheels took a good shine. Interesting side bar: I found a old post on www.bikeforums.net from the seller lamenting how he was stuck with this very same bike they he would never be able to sell! It worked out well for both of us. This one gets minimal ridding with the heavy wheels and Sun Tour shifters that constantly loosen and shift on their own (just like my first one), but it is like a trip back in time to own a complete GT just like it was in 1976

Didn't this post beforehand until you pointed it out on my yellow flash thread ... lovely bike. I think the RAL may be a 1004 or 1007, but it can be my eyes.

OK here you go, here's some love. <3 I did see this the first time you put it up bit I think I skipped it quickly in a fit of jealous pique! Lovely bike and a great story. Original yellow. There you go. BTW which SunTour RD is it? It looks like a VGT from this distance. Or is it just an Honor?
My Victor came with steel rims. I had new alloy wheels made. It was like a lame horse suddenly being healed and being able to gallop. The difference was astonishing. Taught me the importance of good wheels to a bike. b

Do your alloy rimmed wheels include rims made by an Aussie company with an incredibly cool logo Bendo? Only I might need some new rims shortly and am really keen to get something that feels right for the bike...
That GT looks great in that solid yellow triitout. Was the GT Viscount's first go at a touring bike? It looks like an Aerospace frame in the middle there.

It was the lowest price model that was aerospace and that a poor student like myself could afford. Like I quipped to Sooper8, I think they called it "Gran Touring" as opposed to "racing" because you could not do anything but go slow on it with those steel wheels . Pete, it was very safe after pub runs.
