Hi All,
I had an Indy 500 back in the winter of 1980 and ran it into the ground over the course of my last two years at school and then the next two years riding a few miles to work each day. Quite frankly I didn't look after it and as soon as I hit 18, and could drive, I let it sit in the shed.
Fast forward 30 years and my son bought an 'unmarked' light weight classic road bike (we used to call them racing bikes back in the day) from eBay this time last year. Did a bit of research and found that it had a trusty sticker on it and then finally linked that to Viscount by looking at the thread Bustaste started on the CTC forum. It turned out to be an Aerospace Pro with tubs on and in pretty good condition, all original. Nice bike!
Well, what a coincidence finding a Viscount!
Anyway, that inspired me to be on the look out for a Viscount on Ebay for myself as I was mighty jealous.
I looked for an Indy 500 but nothing came up. Even doing a Google picture search, I could only see one sandy coloured one (as mine was) and then a couple of sky blue ones.
In the year while I was biding my time, I managed to pick up a few Viscounts in various condition. I will post them all up in due course here on this forum, with stories about how I came to get them.
But for now, here are the Indy 500 pics. I haven't done much with it yet and am in two minds about the hideous bar 'tape' (or should that be sponge?) Very 80's but not my cup of tea.
