Hi, guys. I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Joseph into our Viscount family. He's the customer who sought me out after reading my blog and who I'm helping to sort out his Aerospace frame. As it turns out, he's the one who snagged up the white frame on eBay a while ago and even popped by to say hello. I've met up with him today and I'm very, very happy to announce that he's abandoned the fixie idea, but instead will go with 5-speed and the Lambert chain ring in the front. I'll be taken the frame to the powder coaters tomorrow--white it is--to recreate the GP theme (white/red). We'll fit a new BB if I can get hold of a spindle (waiting for supplier to reply), and he's also brought in the lovely mark 3 alloy fork which he'll mirror polish. It'll be a stunner when ready. So, Joseph, welcome to the club and hopefully you can make time for the 28th of June to meet the family. :-)

How's that frame going? Was that the white lambert from Midlands?

Dudley. Frame needs proper identification.

I can't thank Stella enough for the welcome, and also all of this forum's contributors for giving me an insight on what was a fortunate find as I happened to be in the area for a few days and sniped it on EBay. The more I learn about viscounts and lamberts, the less willing I am to hack it about into a singlespeed which I really wanted to have. This weekend my pal is letting me try out his Boardman TK Pro, which really light and runs a 50t chainring, his thinks I cant handle the 52t on anything but a track situation, but we'll see. Safe journey everyone.

Hey Joe and welcome to the forum, 52 tooth will be fine. It can be a bit of a struggle on newer bikes as the cassettes at the back can go down to an 11 tooth sprocket where as freewheels will only ever go down to a 13t rarely and more commonly a 14t. The gear inches between a 52-14 and as 52-11 is a massive difference.

Ha! He's already decided to go 52 on the front (port hole chain ring) and 5-speed rear.
The spindle's arrived today (thank you, Pete), although I guess there was a misunderstanding as it has 2 grooves, but I think Pete said there shouldn't be a problem to get the chain ring sit square on it. Will have to go and get some wet and dry paper to polish it, then off it goes into the freezer for a few days.
