I don't want to jinx the deal, but might be picking something up tomorrow and I am pretty excited about it.
I'll keep you posted.

Oh yeah! Not just a Delta, but Delta with a pump and vintage granny style shopping bag on back. It's the Hillman Avenger of the late 70's bike world.

THAT is SO cool! I'm so not into folding bikes, but I love Bendo's little one and think you'll make it really pretty, too. Might warm to it at some point. Cusqueno never gives up trying to lure me. :-)

Cusqueno never gives up trying to lure me. :-) Well, I gave up the idea of ever owning a Moulton or Brompton (or even a Dahon) as they are just too expensive for me. So, this is the best option. I plan to keep it in the camper van and use it for little reconnaissance missions while out on van tours. Good for shopping too.

Sounds like a plan. There's plenty of other folders available, but I just prefer the big boys. Maybe when I'm an old bird, not being able to swing my leg over the bar ... I could see myself changing to a little folding bike.

Congrats,it can't be too much heavier than a '60's Moulton,I know,I've got one! Bloody awkward things really, can't put them on a normal bike carrier,so the sepperable is always a good option,if you can find/afford one. Cheers, Pete.

Here's a photo of the new addition to the stable. I will post all the photos up in 'photographs of your bike' section. It is very clean, well looked after and great fun. photo 1 by Sooper 8, on Flickr

Congratulations to the addition!
It looks indeed in good nick. And I love that bag. Would be a great bike to go shopping for those without a car or panniers.

Jem,that looks brand new! Stuff personal opinions and carryingthings,it's great. Shouldn't have compared it to an Avenger really,do you remember the Tiger version? Wouldn't mind seeing a similarly souped up Delta! Cheers, Pete.

Wouldn't mind seeing a similarly souped up Delta! Cheers, Pete. Pete, It is as good as something from 1974/5 is going to look. Someone really looked after it. I picked the Avenger as it was the first car I drove at age 17 (it was my cousins). It was orange with a white flash down it - in a rather English approximation of the Starsky and Hutch car. I remember it being hard work to drive. I also picked it , thinking it was roughly the same era...? What was the Tiger version?

The Tiger was the Holbay engined, twin Webber carbed balls out race, rally machine. Not as good as the '60's Sunbeam Tiger, that had a Ford 289 v8!Very quickly killed when Chrysler took over the Rootes Group. Needless to say, loadsa money these days! Cheers, Pete.

Very old school cool. Never seen a folder even listed in the US. That would be just the rights kind of bike to get Mrs triitout out again. Enjoy it!

Have a look at Sheldon Brown's Raleigh 20 page sheldonbrown.com/raleigh-twenty.html. He talks about folders, so they were sold in the US. Perhaps they are not seen much in the wild now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fly there, ride back, epic road trip! After all LEJOG has been done on a Raleigh Chopper. You would have instantly attained "Superhero" status! Cheers, Pete.
