Just watched an early Jacques Tati film (1949). Not sure if he ever made any impact over in US? Here in UK I think I'd be right in saying he was quite popular , but verging on cult status , and not widely known much after the 60's? (I might be summarising him all wrong here)
I love his later films but this one was new to me.
The level of skill, daring and inventiveness using a bike is on a very high level. I can recommend it, to anyone who likes a 'bike story' on film. The bike is pretty much joint co-star with Tati.

Kev- I caught it by chance on a satellite TV channel called 'Talking Pictures' , which just shows old films.
I am not sure if I get that for free or if it comes bundled with something else that I pay for , like the Sky Movie Channels.
If on the off chance you have that channel, I just scrolled through it for the next week , and can't see it scheduled again in that time - but as with all these things, they generally come around again on there.

EDIT - here's the details
Talking TV
An independent archive film and television channel
You can watch Talking Pictures TV on Virgin 445, Freesat 306, Freeview or Youview 82 or on the Sky digital satellite platform, channel 328.
