Anyone have any Viscount plans for over the winter? I have an Aerospace Pro that needs re-assembling, and to find a nice set of high flange hubbed wheels for it. I am going to treat myself to a new chain for this. (this was the one that Bustaste changed the BB/bearings on) I am exited about this project- as other than a mile or so on my son's 'Pro, I have never had/ridden one. I have the Gran Sport to tidy up and replace tyres, and I'd like to get a replacement set of wheels (I can only live with steel rims for so long) Then I plan to totally strip and do maintenance on Indy 500. I May also try a swept back pair of bars and some other refinements to make it more of a 'Gentlemans High Performance Town Bike' (copyright Bendo 2013). Maybe do a bit of shellacing and other little tweaks to give it some style. And finally I have the Deore 18AX to clean, tidy/grease. I would also like to get a good pair of period panniers for it and take her out on a week long tour in May/June 2014. I also plan to get out on the Sport on those sunny but cold days and enjoy riding it. Finally after all that work,(and an arrival of a grandchild in December) I plan to work out which one to take to the Second Death Fork Rally in the summer of 2014.... What plans do others have?

PS. Off to France at the week end, now, what bike to take?Is it the Tony Oliver road bike I took last year? Or, the untried Aerospace Sport? It's now on 700x23c with a 14/34 6 speed screw on.Should manage the hills with OAP wattage! If I ever work out how to post pics I will.I'm not too proud to ask,but how the hell is it done?? Cheers,Pete.

How are you getting yourself + bike to France Pete? In terms of posting up pictures - You need to find an online place to 'host' them for you (basically an online storage). These are free. Apologies in advance if I am sounding like someone teaching their grandmother to suck eggs... I use a couple of things, one being Photobucket(find here). You need to 'join up' and register. This is a very basic site. Not pretty but does the job. Then the other I use is Flickr (find here), which I think requires you to set up a Yahoo or Google mail account as a start. Lots of features and big community (with a Viscount and Lambert group started by Cusquequino). Once you join up, you have your own personal password protected area (Flickr's is huge, not sure of how big Photobucket is but I will never use all the space they give). Then there will be an 'upload' tab. Either grab and drop your pics or select them and click 'upload') They will then go up to site and 'be hosted' there. Flickr is clever, with loads of features. You can join groups, start groups, make photo's available to all or just those you choose. Then there will be a tab that says 'share' or some such. It will offer various options but in simplest terms you will copy a link/code they give to each picture. Then go to the forum or site you want to post picture on and just paste the code in. Hope this helps but realise I might be presuming prior knowledge of some terms. Give it a go and drop me a line if you need any help.

Thanks for the info sooper8, I'll be to busy to attempt such wizardry 'til I return. I have a flicka account, petethebike, which has a few photos of parts of "the fleet" and a few other pics of dubious interests.Feel free to browse. Bike goes into the car with t'other half's fishing gear, booze for me,have you seen the price of beer there?Fill the car with wine to come back, none of which passes my lips! Hopefully pics on return.

Have just acquired a Team '82 frame off eBay to use as the basis for a hack commuter bike.
Can't find a frame number on it.
Needs lots of bits - wheels, brakes, cables, pedals, cranks, etc.
Aiming to make it the equivalent of my 1980s 5-speed Sport - but with a hub gear.

Sounds like you're busy, Jem. Hello, Pete, I don't think we've met yet.
My projects are: stripping both my sports, cleaning them and put everything back together. I also want to work on both BBs as they're not sitting correctly. I will restore the Pro, which means leaving the frame alone, but build new wheels and strip and clean everything before putting it back together. Want to try shellacking, too, (cotton cloth tape).
Then I'd like to build two new bikes, the one frame you gave me, and the one that Steve prepared. Lots to do. :-) And I guess I'll acquire another bike, preferably a Sprint frame to put the bits I stripped off the damaged frame.

I think my winter project of the red Viscount is going to start very soon. My beloved Shawn has a crack in the seat tube. My guess is that the seat post wasn't the right size (it was a tad difficult to get in) although being 26.8(!)and what had appeared to be a scratch was a crack that now has opened up. As you know, the seat post was stuck when I bought him and also torn. The crack was there, too, which I didn't see until we removed the post. So, since he's now unridable, I'll strip him down and move everything over to the red frame. Will have to see if the seat post fits the 'new' red frame. I think Shawn's frame will possibly be repaired, then re-painted and build up, or end up to be my shop sign one day. In any event: sad news.
