We have had snow off and on for the last two weeks. A couple of days ago it was about twice as deep as in the photo. consequently, I have not been riding. but have had to substitute my aerobic exercise device with snow removal capability. It has an ergonomic design and is of composite and metal construction; it gives me a real workout! It can be seen in the lower left of the picture. The weather has been harsh for us, but hats off to those who must live with truly harsh winters. Maybe I should build one of these?
Looking forward to warmer weather Jim

That's a great idea right up until you hit a manhole cover.

Man hole cover, yikes! I was thinking a seam in the sidewalk (or even a chunk of ice) would create a bottom over tea kettle situation. I remember the days when a local kid would offer to shovel your walk for $1.00 and the driveway for $5.00. I am sure the rates would be higher these days, but it seems kids are no longer interested in such things. Whatever happened to those kids?

They grew up and now they are 70-year old cyclists.

This picture (of our old homestead) was made this morning; I thought the contrails interesting. It was 21F and today our high should be above freezing. Tomorrow is warmer so I should get a nice ride. More storms this weekend, but only rain. We really need the precipitation but (for riding) I think I miss the drought! Ride Happy Jim Mar 8 2023 (1) by Jim_Gude, on Flickr

Looks like a big improvement since the first picture, Jim. Spring is coming. I'm getting pretty tired of many layers of clothing, sloppy road conditions, and incipient hypothermia every time I return from a ride. This week looks like 42F every day, which is above the misery threshold. Snow and ice are almost gone. It's time to start scoping out some interesting rides.

Today, we had a one day of warmth (61F) before settling in for a new storm this evening. I was able to have an excellent ride! Yippee!
Cheers Jim
