If you are not familiar with this US company, check them out. I have found several obscure items for household repairs here. Caution - allow many hours for browsing.
I have a longstanding malady, which I have termed "gift shop back." I can walk around in an auto parts store or hardware store for hours with no ill effect, but five minutes in a gift shop gives me an excruciating lower back ache and usually forces a retreat.

Oh Brian, why did you have to post that? What a website! I clicked on hammers and there were 978, but each very well catalogue for stye, use, weight, grip material etc. All I can say is, I'm glad they are not in the UK as might be finding items that I didnt now I wanted or even needed. I might use it to find items, becasue it has such a great cataloging system - and then go and find it locally if I could. EDIT- 5 mins in and I didn't realise I wanted a programmable high temperature furnace until now

During the summer I ordered some three foot long springs and fixed all of the broken ones in the balance system of my 55 year old house windows. Good as new. Since then I don't assume anything is irreparable and I know where to find the odd bit that I need to do the job (or the odd tool to make the odd bit.)
And of course you need a programmable high temperature furnace. Who doesn't?
