Okay, this one is way off topic; but things are a bit quiet. In 1958, my brother and his best friend saw what can only be called a UFO (now known as unidentified aerial phenomena). The object was flying over Simi Valley California and towards the (then secret) nuclear reactor in the Santa Susana mountains. I always thought he must have seen an airplane. Recent revelations surprised me. Some of the videos (released by US DOD) are somewhat similar to a drawing he made in 1958. He waved that drawing in front of me from the time he was 12 to his death in 2020. He wrote about his experience in 2018; all attached. I just wondered if any of you have had a similar experience?
Cheers Jim

I saw my one and only UFO around about 1980. A group of us out in the fields about 8.00pm on a dark autumn night. This configuration of maybe 4 or 5 lights in a cluster, and it was motionless for a time, then moved , then still again and then moved again in a fairly fluid motion. We stood transfixed and not able to take our eyes off it. It was here for 15 mins at least; I can't recall how it disappeared , but it wasn't dramatic or I would remember. We were in the fields a lot as kids and hadn't seen anything like it. It was just odd.
No way to determine size or shape, and it was silent but we figured it was between 2000-4000 feet high, and maybe a mile from us at most. The next day the local paper ran a story that others had seen it and reported it to the police.
I know all the rational explanations and things it could have been , but I have never seen anything like it before or since.I have watched the video above that that still comes from. I do think that when pilots start to question things then something is happening. However, even on a commercial jet going on holidays, the light and angles in a plane do make for the most baffling of visual 'illusions' and some of these digital cameras that 'lock on' in jets could quite easily be fooled by lens malfunctions?

I’ve never seen anything but some years ago something crashed or landed in some nearby woods and they were sealed off for a while. It what was passed off as a lightning strike as people heard it but there was no thunderstorm. The investigation drew some serious people to the site which suggests it could have been a UFO. There are no links I can find as this was pre-internet times, early 1990’s if I recall correctly.

We live about 15 miles from Kecksburg, PA, the site of the famous1965 crash of the “acorn shaped object” with strange writing that was supposed to have been carted away by the military. My brother-in-law was there almost immediately, in fact the reported strange blue lights may well have been his camera flash. He swears to this day there was nothing there, who knows? My only encounter was in the early ‘70s when I was manning an air defense missile site near the East Coast’s largest naval base. Several times I saw something zipping across the radar screen at an astonishing speed. I asked “those who knew such things” but never received an answer. Best, John “wheelson”

Not UFO’s but the weirdest thing I’ve seen was driving through a wooded lane in the early hours one morning…
At the time we were working in London and used to travel back late Friday evening, by the time we got near home it was sometimes 2.00am and there was always a carload of four of us. We entered a misty dip in a country lane at slow speed and I saw what I can only describe as glowing fairies dancing around at the side of the lane, perhaps 3” in size. I kept quiet then one of the other guys said “please tell me somebody else saw that”? I thought it was fatigue and my mind seeing things, but everyone saw it. Whatever it was it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I’ve researched ever since as I love nature to find out if it could be some kind of insect or something but no explanations.

Put me in the "I saw something" club as well. I know what I saw did not fit anything I could explain. It was back around the mid 1960's up in Rockland County, NY where we summered in a bungalow colony. We were at a drive in movie theater, (remember those?), watching a boring movie. I got out of the car and sprawled myself across the hood of our 1958 Ford Fairlane. Nice big hoods made for a nice way to lie down and watch the sky. As I peered at the night sky, I noticed a stationary green light and first thought it was just a hovering helicopter but it was silent and at a very high altitude. Suddenly, a second red light seemed to come right out of the green light object and they both remained just motionless for maybe 30 seconds. In a flash, they both just zipped away in opposite directions at a speed far above any plane and disappeared. It was simply mesmerizing and something you'd never forget. It seems that Rockland County had many sightings as per the link to a NY Times article I just found tonight. What spooked me was the references the same green and red lights I saw. That's my story. www.nytimes.com/1976/10/11/archives/rockland-ufo-invasion-starts-round-of-explanations.html

When I asked my Dad about UFOs and aliens, he said this. They would have to be of a much more advanced technology than we are. Like in World War 2 when he flew low (below the radar) over native villages in New Guinea. The native people fruitlessly threw spears and shot arrows at their PB4Y-2. Why would I want to stop and talk with them, said he. He went on to say if there are aliens, why would they want to talk with us; we are primitive and dangerous. Cheers Jim
