MKS still make the best retro style pedals you can buy. I'm sure everyone knows them. Their Sylvan Road Quill pedals are very close in styling to original Viscount pedals, only with a much better level of finish! And dust caps with screw threads so they don't fall off!
The tech diagrams they have of their different toe clips and the fact that they make this stuff available to the public is just a reminder of how much thought they put into everything.

Good information. I always use MKS pedals, either quills or touring. I also always used MKS LL toe clips but switched to Zefal half clips for several reasons outlined in an earlier post:

Strangely enough, I fitted MKS Sylvan pedals to Mrs LHJ's AX18 when we bought it in July. Early this year, we noticed a click that tied in with crank rotation. I replaced the bottom bracket axle, which had a barely noticeable pit, but the click remained. Eventually, having ruled out everything else, I stripped the pedals down and found a small defect on the right hand pedal axle, as if it had been hit. I was able to dress the high spot with a jeweller's file and the click has disappeared, but it seemed unusual to find a manufacturing defect in this day and age.

Kudos to you for diagnosing the problem! b

Thanks Bendo,
They were new in July and had done about 800 miles. Diagnosis was a result of working out that the click always occurred at the same crank position and once the bottom bracket spindle had been changed (fortunately conventional cup-and-cone) there was nothing else left. I thought about returning the pedals, but by the time I'd stripped them down to investigate, it was less trouble to correct the problem.
