I heard on the radio yesterday that the Harris Cyclery in Boston (Sheldon Brown's former shop) has closed after 70 years. The reasons given were the pandemic and shipping costs. However, in my opinion and according to many online reviews, the real reason was their general disdain for customers. I guess there just weren't enough people that enjoyed being ridiculed for asking questions or owning a mid-range bike. There are plenty of good LBS's in the area that are doing OK despite the pandemic, etc., so good riddance.

Not the eulogy I was expecting! Still I can well understand it. Can happen to folks who work in specialist shops I suppose. An interesting guy who I follow on instagram has a post about the closing of Harris Cyclery from 11 June www.instagram.com/marcandrewelliott/His Insta is worth trawling through to see the amazing range of bikes he has owns. His posts always have very thoughtful and well-written captions, unlike most things on social media... b
