As the name suggests, I'm new to bikes and new here. Picked up an Aerospace GP to get out and about during the virus lockdown and because it looked cool. Car guy and engineer here, so I'm handy, but new to the riding hobby. Will post pics in a sec!

Welcome to the forum Greg, great you found us!
If you need help with pictures, just give us a shout - the forum has no space left to host it's own pictures, so you would need to put them on a host site and then embed on here.
I am pretty confident that you will enjoy the Aerospace ride.
Anything you need, just post up- you might not get an immediate answer, but it will be a thoughtful, considered one.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! I swapped out the pedals with some vintage Lyotards for casual riding and am waiting on a modern style seatpost for a Selle Anatomica seat. "Original" seat was an Ideale, looks to be in good shape. Magnet sticks to the fork in all locations, so it's been updated. Any way to date this model to a particular year? mapbox clear map

Looking good Greg! Looks like the Tange replacement fork on there. That is the best option in my opinion.
I see a lot of those front and rear wheel reflectors on Viscount of that era in the US. Not sure if they all rolled out the shop doors with them, but they could have done. Other than the pedals, it's looking nice and original.
All in all, a very nice model. Happy cycling ahead!
EDIT - date is approx 1975 at a guess. You can date a little more accurately by finding the Shimano date codes (often hidden out of site) and working from those

Welcome Greg. The GP looks in good condition and a lot of the parts should polish up well. I’m a fan of Lyotard pedals, especially the chrome rat trap type. Those rubber block ones you have on there look really clean!

Welcome, Greg. You'll find people here really friendly and willing to share their extensive experiences and knowledge freely. That's a cool bike and you have many fun hours ahead of you.

Jim You chose wisely with the forum as well. I’ve only been a member for a few years, but I’ve definitely found a home here. A friendlier and more helpful group you wii not find anywhere. Best, John “wheelson”

Welcome aboard! I'll second everyone else's comments. A lot of very knowledgeable Viscounters to lean on for answers. Enjoy the rebuilding and then enjoy the ride.

Thanks all! I added the reflectors (eBay NOS ones from the same era as the bike). Turns out the white block pedals are M14x1.25, not 9/16, so if anyone wants them I'll let em go for cost. Great info on the fork - that's the kind of stuff I love to see. Will look for date codes today

If you plan on replacing the decals on the top tube and down tube to tidy things up there are some original factory Aerospace GP ones on eBay at the moment.
What are your plans with the paintwork Aeron? T-cut and polish?

What are your plans with the paintwork Aeron? T-cut and polish? The decals are *mostly* still visible and not peeling off or anything, so the plan right now is "patina." I did see those decals on eBay and they look great. Someday.

I did see those decals on eBay and they look great. Someday. The seller on eBay is almost certainly Velocals in Texas, who’s operated a bike decal repro service for many years. His website carries three standard Viscount sets, plus two sets for the earlier Lamberts: velocals.com/accessories-3/velocals.com/lambert/Velocals’ standard product is vinyl stickers (typical from the mid-80s on), rather than old-school water slide decals. But they’ve expanded their product range over the last few years; you can select your preferred materials for a lot of their items (2mm vinyl with and without UV protection, 1mm vinyl with and without UV, water slide). Fortunately for us, Lambert and Viscount (I believe; I’ve had fewer opportunities to examine Viscounts) used vinyl stickers to begin with. Now if I can just convince Velocals to make a down tube sticker for my 24K gol-plated Professional Grand Prix...
