The rear wheel isn’t even in the stay on the drive side, bent chainstay?

Broken chain protector on the chainset as well... I messaged the seller asking if it has been in an accident, she said no it just needs a new back wheel. Hmm... I’m working in Alfreton tomorrow and could look at it. Would it be unreasonable to get the string out to check if the frame aligns okay?

Maybe just a photographic distortion but that fork looks suspiciously vertical. Does the front mudguard clear the frame? You can hold a straightedge along the head tube and see where it intersects the ground. This should be slightly ahead of the point where the wheel touches the ground. If it is behind the wheel, something is wrong, maybe a bent fork from a crash. Well, maybe some bikes have negative trail, but that sounds like a handling nightmare so I doubt it.

Someone pointed out elsewhere they aren’t the original forks, I dismissed the forks thinking 1990’s crossover when steel bikes like the Raleigh Pioneer stopped using traditional forks. But google images proves they are not original. Such a shame. A decent Reynolds 531 touring frame doesn’t come cheap anymore and the finish/decals is good on this.

If that is ok, then it's a lot of bike for the money. It would intrigue me.
But to lose spokes like that (and then the rear mudguard be raised up) surely indicates something has gone on? How would that happen during 'normal' riding? A stick flicked up and went through it?
But if that is the case , then why not just explain it?
Mmhh, zero seller feedback too....I'd steer clear (if they had sold 100 things and got 100% feedback then I would take a look)

Obviously not "like new". I wonder what the drive side looks like? An original spec fork may be hard to find. Are you a gambler? If I was truly interested, I would arrange to inspect it. If that is not possible, then move on.
All the best Jim

Strange that the seller doesn't mention that some work on the rear wheel is needed (at a minimum - probably a new wheel or rim). Do they assume that people won't notice? If it's your size it could be a bargain (for £100 or less), although if it was mine I'd also want to replace that unicrown fork - I think they are ugly. The smaller one is better value at £150 I feel.

Thanks for the replies. Decided not to bother looking at it despite working in the town it’s in this morning. The unoriginal fork really put me off, replacing the wheel(s) wouldn’t have bothered me if the rest is okay and original.

The North Yorkshire one looks nice and would probably scrub up quite well: very tempting if only Mrs. D would let me.

Kept my eye on this and I don’t think it sold. The listing has gone saying the item has been removed because it was lost or damaged.
