While checking out another bike I happened to notice this Gran Sport in the seller's shed. I asked what he wanted for it and he said $40, so I took it. I think few of the components are original but the frame is excellent - fillet brazed "Aerospace" steel with English threaded bottom bracket. It does have the protruding tubes in the BB. If anyone can point me to a resource where I can see how this bike was originally equipped I would be grateful. Here is a link to some additional photos:

$40?!
Well done. In the U.K. some chancer would be asking £120 minimum.
Cracking project.

This may be of interest as well. Dealer price list shows the Viscount hierarchy. Application 2

Hey Brian, sorry I didn't see your post right away. So much action on the forum. Glad you picked it up. Here's the original brochure with all the details you're looking for. All you need to do is grow a bad mustache Shoot, I had a bad mustache and shaved it off. Thank you very much for the brochure. It is exactly what I wanted. Interesting price list, too. Not much margin on Viscounts, especially with F.O.B. Shipping Point!

Interesting modifications: the original gears have been swapped out for Suntour components (generally good - I'm a Suntour fan): the rear derailleur is an alpha-3000 model that was one of the early RDs used with Suntour's first indexed shifting system (and it's difficult to tell from the photos, but the shifters look like the Suntour accushift levers). - The accushift/alpa-3000 combination was designed for a 6-speed cassette, but on this bike it has a 5-speed sprocket set.

It is an Accushift. I don't think it would have worked correctly with the 5 speed block. Many things about this bike are wrong but I have most of the components to put it back to original. I am also a Suntour fan. I might have an extra V group with ratchet shifters that I could use on this bike.
