Check out the wild gearing on this 1962 Disiree seen on the Classic Rendezvous Google group. Note the huge chain differential and the modified cages on the Campy derailleurs; someone was very clever. Just thought it worth seeing.

That’s what you call a long cage derailleur, it took me a few seconds to spot the small chainring.
