I found this interesting. Somehow, I like the old Raleigh they backdated to two speed cogs, while the new bike left me cold. His struggle on the climb reminds of how I now feel on even a mild climb; no matter the gearing.

It is a good video, there’s another one where they ride through the night with candle lights. One of them says “cyclists in the early days weren’t athletes, they were gladiators”!
Yeah it’s a Reynolds 531 frame he’s riding which won something ridiculous like 19 out of 22 TDF’s back in the day. So hardly rubbish. I don’t like the aesthetic of new bikes either, with the fat downtube and garish graphics. I appreciate they are built for performance but they don’t appeal to me or my style of cycling.
