How moody is that last photo? It's like an album cover for Joy Division... if they were into bikes... What did you take those last 3 or 4 with? Do you have a filter on?

I think it was "Lomo-ish" in Picasa. Or perhaps just vignette. The photo was taken under a single 500 watt floodlight. Thanks for the comparison to JD. No higher praise! b

Amazing, that big oil lid or cover with "Trusty" on it is something.

Amazing, that big oil lid or cover with "Trusty" on it is something. The oil lid (I do see the resemblance) is the knob to release the folding mechanism / hinge. Despite its plasticky appearance it is quite reliable and was a patented design. I have most of the bits of a Viscount Delta folder (identical model as far as I can see) tucked away in my shed. As Bendo says, it must be made out of surplus armour plate from defunct battleships, judging by the weight. But I guess it is a similar weight to Raleigh 20 folders (one of which I also have in pieces).

Had the chance of acquiring a Viscount Delta from my local bike recycling facility, but it was so rusty that my feeling was that it would fall in bits if I moved it! I bought a Triumph Twenty instead and have never looked back - it's an amazing little bike, and very solid for a folder. They have a very keen bunch of followers, some of whom have created full-blown tourers from the H-frame.
Great find Bendo - folding Viscounts must be pretty rare in Oz.
The Williams-style chainwheel was also used on some of Viscounts 5-speed International models. I bought one off eBay - then discovered it had once been on one of Scott's bikes!
