Yesterday in the fitful sunshine a short gentle ride with family and friends along the river (to Londoners there is only one River) from Fulham to Barnes and back. Pictures of my Lambert, fillet brazed and very original / NOS replacement parts, at Duke's Meadow. No pubs involved, therefore not good training for DFR2.

Lovely day for a ride. I find that when I want a "gentle ride" my Viscounts are a delight. But as long as I'm still racing, I must honor both sides of the coin. It really looks like an Aerospace GP. Is that a Version 1 or 2 fork??

A very nice looking machine . Can I ask does anyone know the reason for the short useless mudguards ? Were they a way around some legislation back in the day ?

I don't believe there ever was legislation about mud guards (fenders), unlike that requiring tiny 'ping' bells. I think it was part of the fashion for lightness. The 'sports' guards are of course useless for keeping the rider dry and clean, but they do protect the brakes and head tube/steerer to an extent. The ones on my bike are alloy Bluemels ones so probably worth a bit.

John, I envy you that bike. Is that a new one? I don't remember seeing it back then. And much to my surprise you have 27" wheels on it. :-) And a golden Lambert sleeve, too? Beautiful! Love the handlebar job. Is it this shiny tape?

I've had it for a few years. Got it quite cheaply on eBay. It has, as you say, the Lambert bars with the golden sleeve. Tape is modern ITM cushioned. I should probably replace it with something more period correct. The frame is a bit small for me, hence the saddle looks high. Has a Suntour Honor RD, which is steel but has the slanted parallelogram and hence works well. Everything else is Lambert.

Lovely. Great to have some decent Lambert pics and to see where Viscount came from. Looks like time for new spokes though! I'm also interested, which iteration of fork is that?

Seems to be a Mk III fork - can see and feel the bottom of the steerer piece under the bridge. If you see what I mean. Spokes are a bit rusty but I have yet to have any break, even though I used the front wheel on my commuting bike for a while (hence the magnet that you might be able to see on a front spoke).
Edit- meant to add that I haven't had the forks off the bike to check them.

Ah, upon closer inspection I can see it's Deda tape. Quite comfy. Frame looks like a 21", like my Pro. Still okay to ride. It's a beautiful bike. Am trying to get a death fork for my Rally bike.
