Steerer tube is only 6 1/2" (165mm). Good for a 22 1/2" frame or smaller but too short for Bendo.

These forks look as though they would be OK. You'd have to paint the bit that's only primed though. Or wait for a fully-chromed one to come along. The seller states that the forks are for 27" wheels, which I know you use, so they should be OK from that point of view. It might be an idea to check the quoted length of 375mm brake hole to axle slot against another fork to make sure. (Are forks singular or plural? A pair of forks? Does it matter?) Also need to check that the steerer length (165mm) is right for your head tube, although I'm sure your shop could shorten it for you if it's too long. By the way, I have read that the thread on bike steerers should be rolled, not cut, since cutting weakens them. Probably not significant for the gentle way in which most of us ride. Another by the way: as I expect you know, 24tpi is the standard British threading for forks. Back in the day when Raleigh ruled the world (or thought they did) they used 26tpi, just to be different, and the same for bottom brackets. So steer (sorry!) clear of old Raleigh forks (and BBs) for bikes that aren't old Raleighs. (This is a problem I know about from restoring a Raleigh 20.)

I could ask the guys if they have longer ones. So sorry, Bendo. Thank you for replying, by the way, I haven't placed the massive order yet.

Cheers, John. I know about the 26/24 which is a hell of a bastard when you encounter those 24TPIs.
I think I'll risk it with one fork (for Jem's bike) as it needs to be painted anyway (as originally done). The one that came with the frame is rusty. :-( Guess it'll be cheaper (for now) to have a new fork and get it resprayed as part of the frame, than stripping it, get it chromed and primed, etc.
Oh, so many decisions.
ETA: Interesting question re Forks. I feel like it's fork (eating) and forks (bicycle).

A point to note is the OLD of 95mm. Your wheels will most likely have an OLD of 100mm. You can spring the fork legs over your axles,if you're feeling strong. It's just a bit of a sod having to do it in the pouring rain at night.Don't ask how I know!!!! Cheers, Pete.

They're steel forks, aren't they? So I'll bend them a tad. 5mm ain't that bad, methinks.

Nah, Pete, not that kind of bending, but proper, with a fork allignment tool. Very cool device. :-) I've decided against ordering them forks and will wait until the right one comes along. I have one in mind already. :-)
Love that image of you, in the pissing rain, in the dark, repairing a puncture. Sorry, it made me laugh. I'm taking a wild guess that there was a lot of swearing involved. haha.

Thanks for thinking of me guys and gal! I'm specifically after death forks however. Simply because the new steel forks I'm getting made are taking so long... It's a pity these ebay seller doesnt have more pics. You can tell a lot about a fork by how much care was taken with the lugs. b
PS - OK I just saw they have 105 pages of items for sale. They're forgiven for only having one pic!

After speaking to Noah (the man with the fork bending tool) and Armourtex, I've ordered one of those forks. We'll bend it so it'll be 100 OLD and I'll then get it powder coated with the frame. They'll cover up the Chromed ends and off it goes. It's a lot cheaper than getting the fork that came with the bike re-chromed. www.argoscycles.com/www/renovation-pricelist.htm
