Did anybody ever find a good colour match for this? I'd really like to touch up a few spots on it. IMG_8897 by Sooper 8, on Flickr

On the paint could you not take it to a local paint supplier and ask them to colour match. I know there is a place in Burnley where my mechanic gets his paints from who can do this so assume all commercial car paint suppliers will have it these days.
With regards to the beer colour Moorhhouses do a bitter that looks identical 😂

I think we have discussed this before, but I have a 600ex the same colour. I have used it quite a bit for commuting and it too has chips that need touching up. The colour is called Linden Green and is I believe a standard colour. I seem to remember Busaste telling me once that Viscount only used standard RAL colours (like Ruby Red for the red ones). I think I have seen Ford cars a similar colour - perhaps we should try car touch up paints? Or I have seen Cannondale and Brompton bikes in similar green colours.

Thanks both. I do recall this being a discussion topic but couldn't recall the details and the search on the forum was not bringing it up.
I will feedback on where I get to with this, once I've done it

Jem, If you have a local model shop or Hobbycraft, might it be worth taking a ride there and asking if they mind you leaning your bike alongside their rack of model paints to compare shades? See: www.wonderlandmodels.com/about-us/downloads/tamiya-paint-charts/ for the range of colours available in small pots or aerosols from the Tamiya range. Rob.

I managed to get a half reasonable match to touch up a JT Rodgers headbadge on my current project from a modal shop. OK it’s not perfect but we are talking about a 1970’s bike with what looks like a glass enamel used and short of spending a kings ransom on this will just live with it. The chance of me finding another badge is not good that’s for sure.......! flic.kr/p/26AU8Le

The Paragon paint could be what we want - or close enough to touch up chips. It might not be evident, but the original paint (powder coat to be precise) has probably faded or changed a bit over the 36 or so years since the bikes were made, so an exact match without a tailor made mix is unlikely. I think foss on this forum had his 600ex repainted? It certainly looks good: viscountandlambert.boards.net/post/4406viscountandlambert.boards.net/post/10408/threadPerhaps foss has details of the paint used (if I am right and it was repainted). Then we just need to find matches for the other Viscount colours ... ... especially the dirty pink used on some - for example the 600ax - called 'Topaz' by Viscount. Topaz seems often to be some sort of greenish colour. The colour on some Nissan Figaros 'Topaz Mist' looks closer, but perhaps that's a trick of the light. Perhaps this: www.paragonpaints.co.uk/BS2660-1-016-Pink-haze.html

Ok, so just nipped down local car body paint shop. It started off quite promising -He would do small amounts of the 1975 Linden Green, for Vauxhall , which just guessing I would think was correct (he had 1965 Linden Green for Ford too) and another car make which I forget now.
But, he only does it in 2k (whatever that means?) and he said it would never dry.
I had my mobile phone and showed him the Paragon Paints one (in link above). He was pretty sure that would do the job for touch up but said I really ought to check that it's cellulose / 1k.(not 2k)
So, I might give it a go- a small amount of difference won't be too much of a problem as there are only small touch up areas. I also touched up a grey Pro with a close but not perfect match and it doesn't really trouble the eye in my opinion.

My skiing jacket is that colour........ :-0. That said I use black bottoms to help tone it down but at least you get seen by adolescent snow boarders who seem oblivious to skiers and just sit in the middle of the piste when ever they want. Come to think of it I also have a cycling top similar....may get a Viscount one day to match on the basis my wife buys handbags to match her outfits so I can now justify a bike to go with mine LOL

Bingo! I've half a litre, so if anyone needs some, no problem. Just need some little pots to put it in and will post out for you. Dabbed a little on, and it seems pretty close to perfect. EDIT - Once dried it's not as close to perfect as I thought ...just about near enough to get by though Untitled by Sooper 8, on Flickr

Should I bring a container with me? Does the paint go on over bare metal, because when the green chips off, it looks as though there's no primer underneath? Same with the dark pink 600ax - apparently no primer. We could have a 600ex paint-in at the rally ...

You need some touch up on your table!!! Cheers, Pete. I'd be scared to put a sander on that Pete...it's the door off the coal shed when we had an outside toilet and coal shed attached to the house, and as such the paint will be from 40's/50's. I had it in the loft for years, and then I stuck some legs on it and put it in the garden. I just put a clear coat of varnish on it.
