Came across a Steam Rally at the weekend while out with our grandson. Young and old alike love steam vehicles it seems. There were also some vintage bikes and cars (see below) I love that Honda 350/4. A very classy bike. My cousin had the 400/4,where the 4 exhaust swept back on one side into one pipe. We did many miles back in the late 70's. Yes Jem, there is a certain allure when these vintage vehicles are seen. I'm on the route of the Manchester to Harrogate Vintage Commercial Vehicle Run - more pragmatically known around here as 'The Old Crocks' Race! - on the first Sunday in August, when scores of vehicles from vintage buses, lorries, vans, and even butchers' and bakers' bikes, process down the road en route to Harrogate. Many people line the road to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear.
The Honda 350/4, 500/4 and 750/4 did have a certain style to them, but to go a bit bigger Honda introduced the 400/4 and the 550/4, one of which my brother had. I always fancied a 400/4 but I was thwarted when my brother's friend bought the last one sold anywhere around here, just as I started looking!
Is that an oil temperature gauge I see under the nose of the petrol tank?
