That cage on the Shimano FD. What kind of metal is it? Weird colour/oxidation.

It's a wonder to find THE top of the line model from the heydays with what appears to be almost no wear! That near virgin saddle is a thing of beauty. The paint looks great. Finding one so well preserved is like hitting the lotto. Money well spent in my humble opinion. When I look at the price tags for middle of the road modern bikes, or for that matter even components, your new Viscount is a bargain!!
About those Shimano Titlist FD, I'm sure you'll get it nice and shiny with a little work. They all seem to tarnish like that
Cheers, Michael

Well, that was worth the trip to collect, looking great- where was he based?
Did he have a story to go with it?

That little beauty looks like it has been in a time capsule! Great find!

Well, that was worth the trip to collect, looking great- where was he based? Did he have a story to go with it? Not much of a story really. It was a one owner bike. The owner rode it about 10 times in total and kept it in his house. It then found its way into a house clearance company who passed it on to someone who sold bikes for them on eBay which was where I came in.
The bike spent 42 years in a suburb of Kettering.

It's a really rugged RD that seems to last, well, forever. I have some that are 40+ years old and they work like new no matter what the abuse.
1968 - 1980; Shimano's 'golden years'. '600', 'Dura-Ace', 'Tourney', 'Titlist', 'Crane, 'Eagle', Skip tooth freewheels. Phew, one amazing product after another.

"The tyres are not tubs either which goes to show that the factory turned out clincher versions of this colour scheme."
My silver and black Aerospace Pro originally came with tubs. I'm guessing dealers back then must have swapped them out on request. I've had my Titlist FD chromed and it looks marvelous.

Well, Steve, this is a stunner! My Titlist FD has the same colouring. Love the Titlist in general. FD and rear mech. Seems like a similar story to my GP's or even more the Mojave found. Lucky Viscount to go to the best home ever.

Oh, the only critic I'd have is that the brazing seems to be tad sloppy. Possibly due to the apprentice being out the night before. hahaha
