Purchased this mixte from our friend at zapvintage that stumbled on a treasure trove of Viscount/Lambert bikes and parts. I plan on doing it all white to match my pro frame that I had powder coated last year but haven't got around to completing yet. I will end up with his and hers matching Viscounts. Appears to be pretty much all original parts, Birmalux rims. I expect to do the men's pro this winter and will post when it's complete. flic.kr/p/Pu5wus

Congratulations on your new project! I suspect you may have a very special bike. If the story is correct, you may have the bike of Mrs John McLaren, who was the inspiration for the name change from Lambert to Viscount. As per our zap vintage friends, these items are from the estate sale of John McLaren Sr. who according to this old post (scroll down to the comments) viscount-lambert-bikes.blogspot.com/2011/01/history-part-2.html, was the force behind Viscount at Yamaha. His wife's career as a stewardess on Vickers-Viscount airplanes served as the inspiration to link the bikes to the aerospace industry. Nice project with a potentially cool history! Cheers, Michael

Unbelievable that there's still piles of NOS stuff still around after all these years.

I watch a lot of American Pickers, and this was a "honey hole"! The big question is do you preserve the original paint because of the history vs new powder coat? I think Mike and Frank would keep it original. Tough choice.

That was the first thing I thought about a minute ago when I was reading the history of that cache. I changed the color of my original Viscount and regretted it, and the only history it has is with me. I have a while to think about it.
