veloclassique.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/patches2.jpgKeeping low in graphics, I'll just post this. When I got into bikes in the late '90s, I might find a used old cycling manual and read it up, '70s stuff, the better, maybe '80s too. I had one manual that has since vanished; I really enjoyed and pretty comprehensive. Talked about John Howard who for the '70s, was a bit important in the USA; now that manual was obscure but of course, there are a number of well known ones, Greg Lemond's for example which must be mid-'80s or something. I can go on but that's all to get 'er up. I once went to the library and scanned a bunch of old ads for another group; wished I'd kept them even if it was a newsgroup for Japanese bikes, Yahoo group; but spammers, all kinds of folks would get in there, naughty stuff so I deleted it. I felt bad because the group actually got some participants, good ones with photos of their bikes, I didn't watch the group like I should have so it did get spammed. Then, everyone left, so I deleted it. I was around then, but I didn't really get into it like I should have at the time. Films like Breaking Away or American Flyers indeed reflect the era too but I'm getting there.
