I know some here really appreciate road racing, and there is mountain biking and so on. I guess some of these are even in the Olympics.
So, in case, anyone has any observations, here is a thread for that. Old or new!

Olympics are coming up; I'm hearing about problems in Brazil but I don't want to exaggerate it. A lot of these events get criticized ahead of time but work out alright. We'll see.

Jim -you might be getting more news on this than us over here...We are getting scant information.(reason for that is political and I don't fancy getting into debate on the forum regarding it)
According to my wife, corticosteroid reduces inflammation of tissue (and reduces the immune response). So stops/decreases inflammation of muscles during/after extreme exercise.
Also used by asthma sufferers.
So, based on that, I'd say you might recover quicker after a stage? But really no idea, I'm guessing based on my CSE Human Biology course when I was 14 years old

www.bbc.com/sport/cyclingAuntie has plenty on this. Beeb has had coverage in the past on whomever gets caught, Lance, Contador and so on. But I don't bring this up to offend or make waves, I've been in forums where people have complained, the only time cycling is big in the news is when there are these kinds of stories. These are bad stories, like Big Sam, fiasco that was and he's been one of my favourites for years.

These are bad stories, like Big Sam, fiasco that was and he's been one of my favourites for years. Apologies for my lack of clarity...I didn't mean the politics of the drugs in sport etc (I am fascinated by all of that and loved Slaying the Badger film), I just meant the way the press will 'lose' some stories and put certain other characters centre stage and crucify them. The reason why I think politics are at work in some of these cases is big finance and just to keep the gravy train rolling, but sometimes (and the one that causes me most irritation) is when they protect the 'establishment' figures and certain characters that our press think exemplify some kind of role model. For example, the number of times that the media will play down stories of an 'upstanding celebrity' doing something pretty despicable because it doesn't fit their narrative (David Beckham, and Gary Barlow, to name a few) We didn't even get the Elton John/David Furnish story due to a super injunction in the courts here in UK. Although, as someone points out, the Wiggins story is online on BBC news. Maybe I just don't watch enough TV to pick up on these things.

2011 Giro winner, Michele Scarponi killed in training accident, Rest In Peace, at 37 and still a professional, he must have had a long career. I think I read that Scarponi won the 2011 when Contador was disqualified. RIP. www.podiumcafe.com/2017/4/22/15395506/michele-scarponi-a-few-photo-remembrancesI think some British woman's cyclist sadly got killed on the roadway as well in the past few years.
