Over on another forum, a guy called Peter from the US was offering to send out the Yamaha recall letter, the replacement Tange fork to any Viscount fanatic who wanted it and willing to pay postage. Of course I have seen these in photo's but never actually owned one, so I was bursting with anticipation to get my hands on it. Peter was the owner from new and it looked like it had just come fresh out of the time machine! It feels like holding a piece of history in your hands. Anyway, here are a few very quick and shaky shots of the package. Thank you Peter for your kind donation. Wow! Such altruism by Peter. I'm sure all our thanks go out to him. An NOS Tange fork from the seventies with matching headset + DiaCompe cable stop would go for quite a few $$$ even without the provenance and documentation (which would only be of interest to Viscount fanatics anyway).
A SupaBike and now a Yamaha recall notice and forks! watch out Jem - Instant Karma's gonna get you for sure.

Well, it goes without saying the fork isn't going on a bike; it will stay in the Viscount Museum (or shed) and be taken out to look at now and again. These items must remain together.
As for Instant Karma, I hope it doesn't knock me right in the head! (although I need to check the fork on that Soopabike, pretty sure it's Mk3) I have donated a number of things in my time, but I think on balance I still 'owe' someone something as it stands at the moment.
Which reminds me - Velocipete gave me a Viscount frame (brazed rear, lugged front) which I will never get around to doing anything with (plus I am totally broke now!) So, if anyone wants that, drop me a line. I will post pics up when I get chance.

Jem your philanthropy shows no bounds. You donated a V pedal cap to me after seeing me in tears when one went missing on my GP. I for one will forever be indebted to you. Ray

I had that exact same fork,no idea where or when I aquired it. I sold it on about 5 years ago. Are you going to exhibit it at DFR4? Cheers, Pete.

I will indeed bring it along.

I will indeed bring it along. It should be carried on the lead bike as a sort of trophy and in case of death fork emergencies.

Nah, the trophy on the lead bike should be the pair of Death Forks that Rod brought along last year - if he still has them - but he doesn't come on the forums so there's no way of asking him to bring them along.
Jem's new forks will be a worthwhile substitution.

I've got a pair of death forks not doing anything at the moment. I'll bring them along with anyother bits I may find. Cheers, Pete.

I forgot to mention - Although the owner gifted this for free, he put a value on the packaging label at $99. Karma really was looking out for me because by rights the Customs office could have clobbered me in the region of £20-25 for the import tax, but it just sailed through without a word.

Every time I've shipped to the UK, the recipient has gotten clocked. That Portland OR, Aerospace Pro with the fork, etc., is THE nicest looking Viscount I've seen on this side of the water. I'd love to see it in person, but alas, it's 3,000 miles away. More than a lunch hour trip. Frank

My word - that is just about the best example I have seen! I'd be tempted too
