I've been a fan but not a collector of vintage motorbikes, if I see a nice one I take note. 1907 Styria. Bigger and more pictures at the link, quite a restoration. I find the motorbike amazing and for a good while in the early evolution of motorcycles, they almost seemed more bike than motor but that is subjective. www.yesterdays.nl/styria-1907-5hp-764cc-cyl-sv-2508-p-3075.htmlAny additions are welcome.

I'm a bit rusty on some that I've been a big fan of in the past let alone, I've lost some very nice websites with antique motorcycles. Vincent: There is a company in California, maybe Southern California that is making very vintage looking motorbikes, something like this:

I saw this beauty at the Petersen Museum two weeks ago; wish I could remember the details. I did a double take on those front forks. I thought I was seeing things. Mind boggling! Although, now I look closer, it's the same set up on the bike above too.

The top machine is a Brough Superior, not a Vincent. You could buy leading link springer forks for ordinary bikes well into the 1950's. These were add ons for motorised bikes which were popular then, prerunners to mopeds. Cheers, Pete.

Yep, Pete's correct, the machine is a Brough Superior - and they're worth a fortune these days.
'Lawrence of Arabia' had his fatal 'accident' - or was it? - on a machine similar to this, and a few years ago that machine was up for sale with a price tag of over £1,000,000, about $1.4m!

My wife has an acquaintance in Barcelona whose husband is in a nursing home and they're liquidating his collection of old motorcycles. He has a mint condition Afrika Korps BMW with sidecar with a machine gun mounted on it, among other things. I believe the bolt is welded. About 20 bikes in all, some dating back to the teens. I blew my brother away when we were visiting there and I told him a friend had a couple bikes that he should see. My brother is into motorcycles. When the garage door opened his jaw about hit the floor. Anyone interested I might be able to get a price list. My wife will be going there in May for a visit, if I can't get one sooner.

That sounds like some sort of delirious dream for a motorbike fanatic. I can just picture the scene when you took your brother. I just watched an episode of American Pickers last week , where they go to Italy on the hunt for old motorbikes/scooters etc. They had a great time. Then in the next show they came to London and offered a guy £20,000 for a weird little cargo bike..the guy turned them down. Scottw went on a bike hunt in Italy a while back and came up trumps. (I can't find the thread at the moment). I can't think of any better way to spend a week. I love a hunt.
