Following the thread on 'Frame Numbers' I have had a go at creating a Viscount & Lambert Register. I am no expert in creating web pages and what I have done is basic. I have created a simple table where I can record models & frame numbers of the Viscounts & Lamberts we own (or have owned) and publish as a web page for reference. Are forum members happy for me to gather & publish detail of their models? The table includes owner information, I intend only to include forum member usernames, but would love to include where in the world Viscounts owners are. This is my proposed register docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/1j0j6wsMvB-ZRnKB2L-VR9CuJQhxwQgz9UNSrZcPYWd8/pubhtml#Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

Scott,
Brilliant! I can't edit the sheet I've opened from the link, but if I send you an equivalent Excel file, you should be abel to paste the details in.
Thank you for this.
Rob.

Love the idea Scott! It'll be a great "survivors" reference. Kinda like Velobase.com. If you can add locations of owners, it'll be a great way to connect with anybody who's an unknown local especially here in the USA where we may not be as far flung as we think. I'm not great on the technology of an Excel file but I'm sure we'll figure out some easy way for the luddites to participate!

Good stuff! This will prompt me to do a proper inventory of the components on all my bikes. Not sure if there its something better, but I have used this for dating my Shimano bits in the past.

OK..at the moment if members want to add an entry, please message me through this forum ScottW with the details & I will update the register.
The register is updated through a google sheet & published as a web page.
Are forum members happy for me to include already published on this forum their bicycle information? Again if so please message me where to locate, if not already in the Frame Numbers post.

Now includes a link to component dating web site, plus a link to update google sheet. Can you let me know if it works?

Scott, yes, it works, thank you. No need to be logged-in as a Google account user, just hit the 'update own' button. Operates the same as Excel apart from two things for other editors to note:
The Google sheets auto-save, so no need to look for a 'save' button if you're an Excel user, just close the tab. I also had to re-create the light grey borders manually, as they disappeared from the Google sheet when I cut & pasted blocks of data in from my own Excel sheet.
Otherwise, format text font, size, colour and wrap just as in Excel.
You did have me worried for a moment when I read 'dating website'!
Great job!
Rob.

Great work Scott. The spread sheet is getting quite well populated. Any conclusions about any numbering 'system'? I was wondering if, as the serial numbers are a bit random or non-existent (unless Scott's work reveals a Grand Plan), we should take it upon ourselves to give each bike in the db a separate unique ID? Something like xxyyyyyy where xx identifies the model and yyyyyy is an ID number. Could help in updating the db and when bikes are sold. More work I know. What does everyone else think?

I think I may have detected a numerical sequence of frame numbers in the frames built at Potters Bar.
I have an Aerospace 400, fillet-brazed frame with threaded BB, a combination which was produced only at Potters Bar (according to Busaste, writing on the CTC (Cycling UK) Forum. Frame number for this machine is 138651. An identical machine recently came up for sale on eBay which had a pretty similar frame number. My 12-speed Sprint has the frame number 195737, and the rear hub is stamped GA - the Shimano date code for January 1983.
My reckoning is that the following frame numbers contained in the register are in date sequence from Potters Bar, the first from 1978, the last from 1983.
138651 - Aerospace 400, Sprockit
?55546 - Aerospace 400, Cusqueno (assuming the missing figure is a 1)
1634xx - Team KP Crisps, Lewis G
164902 - 600EX, Cusqueno
164954 - 600EX, Sooper8
175849 - Metro 3, Sprockit
193777 - Team '82, Sprockit
193992 - 'Baby' Viscount, Lewis G
195143 - 5-speed Sprint, Sprockit (heavily crashed frame, now used for maintenance training)
195737 - 12-speed Sprint, Sprockit
195948 - Corsair Wayfarer, Sooper8
200742 - Corsair Wayfarer, Cusqueno
Where all the other frame numbers fit in is anybody's guess!
From what I can see, Viscount didn't seem to have any sort of system for any-thing!
Any other ideas?

Where are the frame numbers on a Lambert GP? I have mine in Jackson’s for a respray and couldn’t find anything under the layers of paint and grime. There was another Lambert in at the same time and again no easy to read numbers.......did they number all frames, both are lungless and both apparently without a number!

On underneath of bottom bracket. I think I heard of some before where people couldn't make out a number or even if there'd been one.

Thanks, will ask Jackson’s to check before repainting as it was a mess when I dropped it off and a shot blast may reveal something!

I will get around to putting my details in the data base My number is EX33 on a 600 EX A member posting on the Cycling UK forum has a similar 600EX with the number EX111 on the rear dropout. Pictures as well. The later frames from Potters Bar have numbers on the rear dropouts.
