That is right up there as time capsule Viscounts go! I'd love to know the history

So Jem, as per your request, here's the history. Its current owner is a fellow named Jens who works at a bike shop in Austin, Minn. He bought it from a fellow who was gifted it by an elderly neighbor. As per Jens, only the seat post, saddle and tires are not original. Another basement queen with little usage. He'd like the bike to end up in the hands of someone who knows and appreciates the Viscount brand. We did talk about the difficulties of selling said bike so maybe it can be had for less with the right offer. The bike shop that he works at was founded by a fellow who had very nice taste and assembled a vintage bike collection that graces its walls. The collection includes this pristine Lambert. collection.rydjor.com/bikecollection/1975lam.htm I'm posting it on the photo section for those who might miss it under this completely different topic. The more stones you turn over, the more Viscounts you find. Side note: I wonder if by "elderly gentleman" he's referring to people my age

Proof of concept test with some (black) Sugru. I fixed some foam rubber round a Lambert lever with Sellotape (Scotch tape) to define the edges of the hood and wrapped with cling film (Saran wrap?). Used an alloy nipple and stuck a stick in to make the cable hole. Then covered with Sugru. I used four 5g mini packs. So 20g altogether. That's a random bit of plumbing that's standing in for handle bars. Good job on this and the others in this series of instructables. Well done, fascinating. I think I understand it now.

Lamination or something for Viscount brake hoods, I've tried to preserve mine which are currently under hockey stick cotton bar tape basically. That might have a sticky substance that will peel off the top layer I know.

Hi, everyone-
There is an extensive, illustrated post on hood making here (http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/1041075-how-make-reproduction-vittoria-hoods.html) on Bike Forums. Not an easy process and time consuming but if nothing else exists...
