Sky Yeager, formerly of Bianchi USA and now the bike guru at Shinola, Detroit, once told me, "Everything is better when you bike." Absolutely correct.
Love the bit with "daft question, then..." Mind if I borrow that?
I'll let you know what happens Monday evening.
Cheers to you as well, Frank

Oh dear, did a ten mile TT on my horrible carbon thing with tri bars on Wednesday. It was over 3 minutes faster with a 25:42! I'm going to have to stick tri bars on the Sport so that honour is restored :-(

Excellent time! Welcome to the dark side where we straddle the competing universes of carbon and steel and enjoy the best of what each has to offer. Well done Kevin!

Remember Rule#23: only tuck after reaching escape velocity.

Hmmm, carbon thing managed 24:52 for 10 miles tonight. Seems impressive - just over 24mph (38.6kph) average by my calculations. We'll have to give you a tractor tyre to tow at DFR4.

Whippet, that's an impressive set of stats on your Garmin log, congratulations! Speed, elevation, heart rate, cadence, power and temperature!
I assume that's the air temperature, and shudder at the thought of where the monitor would have to go to record your body temperature!
Good to hear you're mentally preparing for the DFR4 Ironman award - drink the weight of your bike in beer!

Cheers Rob, plenty of info to look at on my Garmin, though Intend to concentrate on power, distance and average speed.

Ended up knocking a bit more off with a 24:34. More to the point, so long as I can avoid work this Wednesday afternoon, I'm planning on sticking tri bars onto the Sport and seeing what it can so...

You have my great respect, Kev. Congratulations.
I also covered a 10.6mile course this morning with my wife, who is preparing for a 30km sponsored ride in a couple of weeks' time. We got round in exactly one hour.
I rode the Victor in 48t x 20t (fourth of six) gear all the way round, and managed to stay in heart rate zone 1 ('just about awake') for 91% of the ride. Still, a lovely way to spend a sunny Sunday morning.
Good luck on Wednesday - keep us posted.

There we go, it's finally been done. 10 mile TT in 26:12. Would have been really chuffed at the beginning of the season, but now one and a half minutes slower than my PB. The Sport felt pretty good, but modern technology does have some advantages. www.strava.com/activities/712039548
